US1 heres a good question for you
IM not being a wise guy !
The Carbed Bridgeport had a 5 peddle front half on it
the EFI had its obvious 7 peddle front
you said that they both dyno about the same ....240hp@7500rpm
What do you think a Carbed Bridge port would Dyno with an old 225 7 ped front half?
I think that your answer will be, that a 2 Bridgeports with the same port height... will dyno @240hp @ 7500 rpm regardless of front half.
But i am curious to here if you did it and what your results were...Jay...................................MARINER RACING

Should my engine be oily? my old outboards always were but they were carbed and dumped gas out of the intake when tilted. I see pics of other EFI motors on here and they are all clean and dry, mine is always oily and I wasn't sure if that was normal. -shane

I've got a 2.0l blkmax and a 2.4l blk max they get oily, dirty and etc. Nothing a little T.L.C. can take care of (old toooothy brush @ your favorite (chemical /and or beverage) clean nicely. Everytime I see a blkmax I want to get/buy/etc. luv em (don't even care what year model) BLACK MAX I'm glad there were (black) spare parts and motors hide well in dark places /out of the wife's view ! (Told I had too many boats) Ha ! glad she hasn't seen the motas !!

Just never let them know how much they really cost. She thinks one cost $500 or $600 like a Chevy 350 rebuild at Kragen. She wouldn’t believe what they really cost anyway. I don’t even believe it.

The first Black Max was 150hp, the 1750(175hp) came one or two years later.

Are you sure about that?
I thought they released the 2.0 1750 while they still built the inline 1500 for another year. They never made an I6 and a V6, (or an I6 and an I4) at the same time that were the same HP.

Note the 1750 in the foreground, the only V6, and the 1500 and 1500 XS in the background.Last edited by pyro; 08-10-2006 at 04:34 PM.

1976 was the first year for the consumer V-6, only offered as 175 hp, still had an inline 150 (I bought one for $2000).
