Sod that for a game of soldiers Pilgrim, the day I have to use a log splitter is the day I put in an electric imitation Dimplex fire and simply flick the switch.
Just like they do in the movies.
Doesn't feel a bit like Easter ------didn't get a single egg this year, chocolate or otherwise, was a time I had them coming out of my ears, weeks before and after Easter.
Was also a time when I went to church at Easter, but I realised after the priests and vicars were exposed for their wrongdoings with kids, I could pray anywhere, anytime, I didn't need a church.
I'm not much of a God Botherer at the best of times------last years happenings didn't exactly endear me to the almighty!
Afraid my confidence in him upstairs took a severe beating and up to now I haven't found any worthwhile explanation .
Enough of all this, it's a happy time, we should make the most of it. Will get back to you later in the day.

Just pulling your chain Pilgrim, used an aluminium splitter since Pontius was a Pilate , but I was a hell of a lot younger in those days with muscles instead of the cockles. Afraid my swinging days are long gone, whether it's with an axe or a hot number, just make boring old concepts these days.

Easter Sunday , first of this years holidays, in a previous life, I couldn't ever wait for this time to come, the start of the racing season.
My all time favourite place to race was IVER , home of the LMBRC, From April until October we had club racing every other week on Saturdays and Nationals at various clubs up and down the country on alternate weekends.
Seemed like every weekend we were racing.
Then in the holidays, we would catch the ferry to France or Holland, even Spain.
A couple of years we did ten races in fourteen days, starting in Monte Carlo, then to Nice, Cannes, isle Des Embiez, (Paul Ricards private island) , then all the way down to Spain, Rosas and Marbella.
Seems to me there were a lot more races organised world wide than there are today.
When our season was finished, there was Paris, Havasu, Elsinore, Parker, even took time to visit Valleyfield.
Then of course there was the FONDA series, travelled the Far East, to such places as South Africa, Singapore, Thailand.
To me that was the most successful series of races ever put together----- but then again I would think that, I'm biased because I started the whole thing on my own, with a push from the likes of Spalding, Percival, Jenkins and TonyWilliams, before Parkinson and then Mercury came aboard.
Reason your getting this today, it's raining "Datsun Cogs" with sleet and hailstones thrown in for good measure-----I'm laid in bed with the iPad and am not in any hurry to leave these nice clean and warm sheets.
However the bathroom is now vacant-----her who shall be obeyed has vacated the same, time to move, I can smell the aroma of grilled bacon!
Bon continuation pour Le Weekend.

Had a great morning in the shop--------was cooking with gas !
Started on a "Pughie" style formula 2 full canopy boat
Thought I would cobble a wooden thingy together, to give me some idea of how to set about a full metal Jackboat !!!
May post a piccie at close of play today ------depends on how far I get with the prototype !

Working with with wood and metal at the same time gives you that "Barn Find" finish you couldn't ever get no matter how hard you tried.
Dont really matter a tinkers cuss, cos this is just a prototype for the real mc coy which is well under way.
Had some crappy mahogany from a far east cheapo door, on closer inspection it was bloody laminated and soft as balsa, didn't have any left for the centre section so I picked out a lump of two by three plne from off'n the fire wood pile.
Lined the inside of the sponson with alluminium , glued and screwed and voila we're in business.
slight problem inasmuch as wood and metal are not good bed mates, had grey hands which found its way into the wood grain and stayed there. Gave it all a coat of clear wax just to stop it from
getting any worse.
Hence the dirty old "BARNFIND "look.
Had the oak outboard from a previous adventure------farted about until it fit the pine canopy-----now it looks like a "MERKRUDE"/-----alls fair in love ,war and concepts.
Watched a piece of English history today in the shape of THE BOAT RACE ,! It's an annual event that takes place on the Thames. Starts off at Putney and has been going on for 162 years. Oxford and Cambridge are the protagonists. Today Cambridge took the honours after being "Duffed" the previous two years.
Wierd how half the crew are colonials, the rest are a mix of commonwealth and South African students. Might have been an englishman in there somewhere.
Will probably be an outcry and protest any time soon-------not a single black man in either crew, in fact I don't ever remember there EVER being one in the boat race.
A bit like swimming, not many in that event either, or cycling come to that!
Before anyone gets on their high horse and starts quoting the Koran and PC, it's nothing more than an observation.

Hurricane "KATIE" bared her teeth in the early hours of this morning, she hit the village at speeds of up to 70 mph.
Walberton has been here since Saxon times and it'll take more than a measly puff of wind to alter anything.
This sort of thing usually happens on the last day of the bank holiday, as long as the workshop stays dry I'm a happy bunny.
Never ventured out over the weekend, too many folk on the road, traffic jams, accidents, holidays and wet and windy weather are not good traveling companions. There will be a lot of folk who never made it back home, anyway , I had things to do at home.
Hearing aid packed up on Saturday -----really did piss Jilly right off-----one thing she really dislikes is me yelling back at her "YERWHAT"-------can't get it fixed until Tuesday at the earliest------everyone's on holiday !
Will soldier on with the new concept and see how it takes shape------not rushing, it's not for anyone in particular------bit like the why do folk climb mountains ? -----because they can. Meself, I like to see if I can, sometimes I take a tumble------but I generally make the top eventually. J.

Have to tell you the "Concept" has taken a new turn-------I just let my mind wander ( as you do at 80+) and voila, I have a four pointer-----only clear thing I kept in my mind was the fact it had to be PUEISH.
Not many class boatbuilders around these days and I greatly admire the stuff that comes out of their shop. Try to keep it up to muster, show it Roger first, if he says it's OK we're good to go.

Will try not to let the side down Roger-----you have a fair idea by now of the cogs and little grey cells that churn around in my old bonce-----even you might be surprised at the outcome------but it will be Puey like.
Jillys daughter and grand daughter came for lunch today-----stayed and played until gone four, didn't have the heart to open up the shop again, so I stretched out on the settee in the conservatoire and read a book for two or three hours, most unjacklike.
Craig is still not happy with his P1 boat and motor, the Rude has over 100 race hours on it and it's running tired------boat needs a bottom job----hence the unhappy grandson, no time to fix it before Tavares.
Thats Easter over and out for this year, hurricane Katie blew herself out, let's hope it's the start of spring proper, now it's cat nap time, bless you all, MYGGWY .J.

You ever go to bed with something on your mind that just won't go away, bothers the hell out of you but you can't put your finger on it--------happened to me last night-----got to thinking about the Puey and all the variations I COULD dial in to it-------how I could put it all together without using six inch nails ( colloquially speaking).
Finally nailed it, but lost half a nights sleep in the process, let's see if it works.
You ever noticed how most of the old farts have got little bits of nonsense permanently stitched to their threads----- thought I might do one of my own, problem is, I don't have a clue how to go about it. Here's mine anyway, comes from bitter experience .
YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE AGONY OF LOSING BEFORE YOU ENJOY THE ECSTASY OF WINNING , JRW.

Not a lot of folk interested in that or telling me how to load my thread.
Got A couple of piccies to flash at you, see what you think? Spielberg and
Lucas dropped by the shop this afternoon , asked me if the latest concept was an inter galactic marauder ? Told him ------Nah, it's a Puey,!
Told me he wanted to buy it there and then, told him to get in touch with Hinsdale in Tennessee, my North American agent.
Speiberg asked me what he power plant was------ told him it was a solar /Lunar round the clock nuclear job.

First attempt at stitching the Puey style rig together--------given meself at least a dozen options with these outriggers , and if these don't ever look right, then I'll make some alternatives!
Power plant was just something I had skulling around, left over from the "Hadron Collider".
Got quite a novel great big old outboard idea I want to have a bash at------a bit ambitious, even for me, still, you know what they say-------nothing ventured ?
Just taken the bite marks off the surface, won't attempt to do the final polish until I'm on the last knockings, if that don't work I'll send it to Tennessee for finishing !
Have a clear three days this week, so with a downhill run and a tailwind I should get the old "Puey Type Concept" finished by the weekend.
You all have a good night, mygg.J.
