    Stock cowl weighs 20 pounds.
    Mine weighs 17 pounds.
This one with carbon fiber panels installed should weigh about 8 pounds .

Yes thats a stock cowl cut up to make a frame. Im not sure yet what Im going to use to install the panels. Maybe 3M panel bond. Might use rivets as well.

Kind fo what I was thinking. Maybe add some Zeus fasteners even if its just for looks.

I think the front will wire mesh with oiled foam behind it to keep water out.

Put the big wheel on today for only the second time ever and she is def down a little on power on the low end. Struggled to break the prop loose and then pulled real slow until about 4500rpm then pulled right to 95mph at 6750. Ran out of real estate but it was still pulling.
Stopped by to see Rick Junker this evening and have a little skeg work done and I showed him that prop. He thinks its leaving a LOT on the table. Its got a ton of cup all the way to the hub and is really really thick. Not what he thought would be a good top end prop at all. I left it with him and if he can get the skeg work done he is going loosen it up a bit for this coming weekends Suwanee run.

My skeg is showing what appears to be a very fine crack starting again at the same spot. Just dropped it off with Rich Junker and he is going to run the torque tab all the way up to the bullet and really make that thick. That part isnt even in the water and on Yamaha gearcases its very thin there. I know if I get another case it will just do the same thing. Been there 3 times now. I think adding this will work and if it does I will seek out a fresh case and add one to that. If not my only choice is going to be trying to adapt a sporty and that will change a lot. It will be like starting all over with setup.

3.0 sporty would be a walk in the park but its gonna be tough to get in 2:1. Might have to build it with alpha gears.

Jeff Dunn might be able to do it but he needs to cut one up to see if he can. Does very nice Merc and OMC ones based on the original hub and ring gear

Mike (DagoDiver here on ScreamandFly and a fiend of mine) can do it. Just not sure its worth the effort for something that really wont gain me anything.

    Yamaha v4

    Hey Guys

Here is the first test on water:

    Prop pitch 28x14
    6900 RPM
    Speed:???

Still need a lot of improvements, I`m having trouble in reacceleration, it feels like need more fuel. To plane the boat I need to kick very fast the accelerator to avoid the engine stops.
Also I have doubts about my ignition timing, I`m using -2 in full retarded and 26 in full advanced.

    Best Regard

Thanks for the updates. Always read them. For all the work you've done you probably could have had a speed master adapted to run on that mid. Even an old school Super Speedmaster was run under 190HP inline 6's and the first T3's.

Im mostly play with and research the old stuff. It surprises me that more people don't use a speedmaster on there performance boats. I would think your boat would love one.

No reverse would suck on a pleasure boat. Sure I could have done it for less butt then there are the insurance claims LOL.

A speedy prob wouldnt be any faster. I only have 3/4 of my skeg in the water so a smaller bullet wouldnt help me.
I do have some ideas about building a billet rudder that would attach to the current lower unit.
