It is a rivalry thing here. All of my guys have wanted a call out from SCB for a long time . As you well know we post videos of TWISTED, making her runs , the Big Eight on the twenty one, and most recently the twins on the twenty one. We are just trying to have some fun and get us a fishing boat race. They are all very aware of three of our boats with 300x motors all running in the eighties

I'm not looking for a race. I just would like to see proof of your V hull running 90 with a single 400. I do not own an SCB and I do not live in Corpus. I know enough of marine engineering that a 24 foot v hull will have trouble reaching 90 mph with only 400 horses. The next time you run that v hull with the 400 take a video of you running 90 with your phone so I will shut up.

Thanks Jillgen we just have been trying to get a race for a long time now. Our first outing with our twenty six center console on break in was on the limiter at 86mph and not near enough prop. I do not normally trash talk or bench race as with any of our race boats. But with this one we are just trying to have some fun and show who the Sherrif is in a local area. Next time we run a twenty four I promise I will give you a video. I think I have one on the build sheets for this month. We are also going to put a Four Hundred on a 21 .Have a good weekend

So now that you have drawn a line in the sand , chased him around on two different thread's demanding proof . I have to wonder if your going out of your way to look for a bad guy , or are you looking to buy a new boat of that general description ?
It will be interesting to see if you "just shut up" or slip your hand in the air and say " Sorry Climax , I was wrong " ..

yeah I wasn't trying to trash talk you. It's just hard to believe that a boat that size will do 90 with only 400 horses since no other boat I know of of that size can do those speeds. I just want to see it done that's all. I'm a fan of go fast fishing boats. I've ridden in many SCB's and know what they can do but this wasn't me calling you out for a race. I just want to see a boat of that size do 90

Believe me, I would have never thought we could have run anything close with that much weight. and I talk to Mercury racing a lot. I have already eaten a bunch of my words. The guys here on the other thread with the Stroker are getting same results. We will be trying the motor on the new 28 . And we are pushing as hard as we can to have the 28 ready for the River Ranch Run in April and of course my goal with both boats is much more than 90mph

If anybody thought that the 400's were going to change things, you're on the bubbler...especially on a Skater.

We have a 25ft Chaudron built here in Malta which is a twin step hull deep vee (21 degrees) that does 90 MPH with a single 300 XS.

I meant 24 foot bay boat. I know purpose built race hulls can reach those speeds. I promise you that if Climax's 24 foot v hull does indeed do 90 with a 400 it will be the only bay boat of that size that goes that fast making it the fastest bay boat on the planet pretty much minus those tiny lake a bay boca grandes and hulls like it. The Fat cat v hull is a deep v and handles rough water great and there isn't another boat like it that goes that fast I know that

Jillgen, in your opinion how much HP does it take a boat this size to go 90? The reason I say this is I have heard reports that the 400hp claim on the 400Ris at a lowly 5500rpm. If this is true and we know that it continues to build HP through the rev range all the way to redline it would be making more HP then 400. Until we see a dyno we don't know what it is truly making. While I'm not saying this as fact, I have heard that the number at redline is closer to 450.

Im curious if that HP potential now jives with what it would take Climax's boat to go 90? I don't know those boats so I have to ask. I can say I would have a tendency to believe the info I have based on its source and from my very early and limited experience with the 400 I'd say it is definitely not lacking any of its ponies.

The 400r does not make 450hp. The motor makes 400hp at 7000rpm. This is what we have learned through Skater and the testing that was done on the 318 at Mercury Racing.

Cool, so that report was overly optimistic then, no worries. Has anyone dyno'd one yet?

I think the Xcat version was rumored to be 450 HP.

And I've also heard rumors that they are the exact same tune...lots of Internet speculation at this point I guess.
