Hmmmm, let's see, 29' DCB that runs 113 with twin gas guzzling 400s - or a 28 Skater that runs 120 w/ fuel sipping 300XSs? I'm still not impressed.........

Maybe they should turn their (Merc) talents to diesel outboards now that the market is forced to have outboards as heavy as inboards?

I for 1 am sick of the industry cramming this four stroke cap down our throats. The fact is , they are heavy and cumbersome, completely useless on smaller vessels, and top end is a joke . Not sure if anyone else has seen the green stv rr on YouTube with the honda....that about sums up four strokes.

You forgot the part where they use more fuel and pollute more from idle to 3/4 throttle.

Had a conversation last week with the guy who CNC's the 400 ROS mids and he said Merc had a 20 motor order from Dubai. I don't think the 400 ROS is the future of Merc Racing, but I'm sure $900k was a good incentive to release a hot rod 4-stroke.

From what I hear, they have to be trimmed all the way up to start them because they sit so low ( fat) and that the 280 powered boats were quicker. On the 400 twin up here..... Total turds.
Thankfully CRT is making billet motors to replace the hole that mercury is leaving.
