How the hell do you manage to make your computer spit out large and clear pictures Gene ?
My granddaughter Casey says I take lousy piccies--------and should take more time on them, afraid I just point and click-------
Am about to take take out the back four blades------can't see the wood for the trees-----far too many blades---------they'll come in handy if I ever do another aircraft.
Just bought a Haynes book on the COSWORTH DFV-----some great pictures in that--------tempted to do a half decent "CONCEPT" of one. See how the next week goes!

Aw, C'mon Fuji, you gotta be kidding-------it's not a problem to build a LIBERTY engine-----I know exactly how I would do it------I don't have the time, or more important-----the inclination to make one.
Worse than that, her who shall be obeyed has flat refused to have any more "CONCEPTS" on the conservatoire table----------and I'm fast running out of space in the shed.
Takes me something like two weeks or fifty hours to do one of these things and about fifty bucks in materials and sanding discs and electricity so with the best will in the world even at old farts wages (5 bucks an hour) the price of these things is "OBSCENE". ($500).

Wait until I've had the sun on my back for a couple of weeks, then I can maybe work up a little enthusiasm, you caught me on a bad day!

Been looking through the "Liberty" engines-------thousands of them-------2,4,6,8,12 and 24 cylinders------seems like every USA car maker made versions of it at some time or another.
Nice simple agricultural design------if I get time this coming year Fuji I will have crack at one----just to show you I can.
Looks like your digging a hole for yourself Fuji------won't be long before some "blast from the past" puts a name to you------nosy buggers are asking for a name and a face!
I once asked you for a name but you were backward in coming forward so I didn't dwell on the matter. I know you're clever on the "Puter" and can access any photo library in the world----but I seem to feel you have a basic knowledge of early Mercury--------that would put you in the old farts category------Oshberg employee about or before the time of Odell and Gene ?
Beans will be spilled afore long------did you once piss someone off so bad you want to retain anonymity? Only time will tell.
Near finished the Lembke, weekend should cover it,
Foraging at the metal recycling facility in the morning.

Took the morning off and went to see my oldest friend Adam Laszczar, he turned 80 this month, really enjoyed a couple of hours with him. Nighty night, MYGGWY.j.

Weekend already, I'm one of the fortunates that it doesn't matter WHAT day of the week it is------they're not all the same, I just enjoy each and every one and try and wring every ounce out of every day. Your here just the once----make the most of it.

Grandson Gary's birthday yesterday----- strange to think that the guy who worked on my outboards------then the COSWORTH------then on my sons outboards-------then on my grandsons ILMOR FOUNTAIN is now helping Gary with his motors. That's forty years with the same family over three generations-----one of the few that I haven't pissed off yet.
Time for a forage at the scrap yard-----piccies later !

The Big Bang! "The theory of everything"-------- I have no idea what this is--------or what it's purpose I see---- goes some 10/12 kilos. Looks to have a centrifugal type mechanism, beautif piece of kit.
One day , it will make part of a great "concept" ------having a mad fit of depression at the minute, even considered doing a "LIBERTY"-----We live in desperate times.!

Just a normal symptom of genius. I think that Iris and I will have a libation and a toast to you.

Morning Stavros, somebody puts up a picture and I immediately take it as a challenge-----like a fish to a lure------I was all engined out until Fuji came up with the Liberty-------picked up a block at the scrapyard-----cut it down to seven inches------turned up a dozen barrels------made 'em into a shallow V and I'm away with the mixer (that's an old building expression).
See what happens over the next week or so?
Genius I am not Steve, told you before, I have to keep the little grey cells active or the buggers would cart me off to a care and rest home for the elderly and insane, I've seen what happens to sixty year olds who retire early-------sit on their arses at home for two years, then have withdrawal systems-------turn up their toes-----get toasted and no one even remembers them !

I once had a "libation"------had it removed with acupuncture-----thought it was a tick!
Just kidding----give Iris a hug from me.

My friend Reed from S/F sent me this one-----thought I might share it with you all and it's a while since I sent you a funny------
John and Joe had been friends for years---- Joe said to John in strict confidence, I'm having an affair with the priests wife and she's "hot to trot"--- I have this Sunday morning free-----would you keep the priest occupied for a couple of hours. Joe didn't much like it. But reluctantly agreed.
Joe corners the priest and after ten minutes runs out of conversation------his holiness suspects somethings afoot and says ok Joe, tell me what's bothering you? Joe breaks down and tells the priest how his friend John is having it away with his wife!
Priest puts a friendly arm round Joe's shoulder and says gently, if I were you ----I would hurry home Joe, my wife died two years ago. .!!!

Not a bad way to start a Sunday. .??

Never did did get the Lembke concept quite right------Was sold anyway, guy wanted it "As is" I did try three different centre sections but none of them were spot on------I started out short and went steadily downhill-------may try again later this year!

Miserable sort of day--------constant rain but still very mild!
Had a long day in the shop-----a visit from my daughter Boo (Tracy) she's the schoolteacher who's always dominant so we usually wind up having a heated discussion. Hate people who try to tell me what to do!

Stavros, you've been around since Pontius was a a Pilate, long enough to remember most of the original Oshbergers, so who is FUJIMO .?

He might be good on a puter but no way did he get all the stuff out of the "dot-dot" . Most of the stuff he shows comes straight from the horse's mouth.
I reckon he pissed someone off so bad at some time, he don't want to be recognised.
Another nine days and I'm Florida bound. Tired, so I'm off to sleep, MYGGWY.J.

    .
Jackie--FUJIMO showed some Liberty/Gar Wood pics. My favorite place to go in Tucson is the Pima Air Museum--go about once a month--if you decide to do the 'concept' I have history and pictures--

1917??? That's older than you or me!!!!

Am I that predictable Gene------or is it the fact the "old ones" are the smart ones with brain power the young can only wish they had !
Spent from dawn to dusk in the shop cobbling the first "Concept Liberty" motor, and yes, it is the Gar Wood lump at that.
Was going to keep it quiet------just in case I didn't get it finished before the cruise.
Dont Ya just love the name, "Lewis Spring and Axle Company" ONLY IN THE USA .!!!
So yes my friend, I could do with an overhead shot of the rocker gear on the Gar Wood motor. Any time soon, like yesterday will do, no urgency ?
Will do a "Progress piccy" , later in the day Gene.

Will do, Jackie. This is a 'cutaway' at Pima Air Museum, and way too much detail for a 'concept' But the engineering that went into this nearly 100 years ago is fascinating--30 degrees 'V' --gear driven overhead camshafts--lots of cast aluminum parts. I did a close up on one of the rocker covers--clearly shows 'Packard'.

25 years later (WWII), Packard was still doing the same thing--building 'Rolls Royce' engines for the P-51 and calling them Packard Rolls Royce--
