i do run an hpdi and love it great on gas and oil runs a good number in my eyes. as said in the past motor need service some more than others. yes hpdi need attention but I love the motor Mercury makes good hp . only two merc powered sob boats ever got passed me trimmed out and Ben both ran 300x . I believe run what you bring to the water yes the yamaha is the underdog but it's a lot of fun trying. brp could be a good runner time will tell. as we all know I run my gopro every trip to capture that moment to post for all see you guys out there.
So ur saying 85 is a big #? There are many 21s w Mercs going over 90 I didn't say yamis were bad. All I said was if u want the big big # there's only one choice. N if 85 a it, it's resoectible but it's not what anyone would consider "big" you have a beautiful boat there but I heard of at least 4 p22s in the 90s w black motors

A stock 300X has 50hp over the Etec, a proper Gearcase and never mind that it's probably the best factory racing big block ever produced. Merc did their home work it better be fastests.

Dirk you crack me up.....No you have Vee pad SOB silly.... And if you go up over 1 1/2" above with your 1" shaft you run risk of the "shaft snapper" showing up.

    I think 84-87 is very respectable numbers....for most with a decent set-up.
