Just did a bit on the walnut wing, last project before I do a sail boat, chosen which one it's going to be. Will post you the odd piccie or two as things progress.
Really would like an English person to put his name to this one, problem is, I don't mix with the rag and stick brigade.
See the U.S. Americas Cup skipper ---Jimmy Spithill------owner? Cash bag , pays his crew members $300,000 a year, just to be on the team, maybe I should volunteer to be the figurehead .
Wonder what sort of figure it takes to be any one of the five contenders these days?
Was told that a new Cappolini DAC Formula 1 costs €108, 000 without the motor, it's gonna be just Arabs, Russians and Chinese that can afford to compete before long.
One day, a couple of guys are going to put a fifty horse motor on to a 13' boat, stand in the middle of a lake thumping their chests, and saying we will take on all comers and maybe start boat racing all over again! Cos racing as we knew it somehow got lost along the way in rules, regs, paperwork, insurance and licensing , dunk tests, safety regs, protective gear-----even the vintage boats are suffering!
Don't think Parker Rabe was allowed to run, due to "mitigating" circumstances. Here I go again, rambling on about something and nothing in particular, time I let you folks get some rest, thanks for sharing my day, MYGGWY.J.

Another week just went by while I wasn't looking, now looking down the barrel of another weekend and I'm still half awake.
Slept like a demented shepherd last night, long forgotten names from the past kept infiltrating my sleeping mind, Intrepid,Shamrock,Columbia, things of beauty from a long forgotten age, a far cry from today's efforts.
i am not against technology but I can't help thinking that somewhere along the way the plots been lost, while it was only ever a rich mans sport, there must have been parameters at one time, guide lines, although from what I've read there never was much "HONOUR" in the Americas Cup.
It comes to something when you have to get government to fund the budget and the number of noughts at the end simply goes outa sight, won't be long before we're asking, "which costs most, the national health service, or the Americas Cup Challenge?"
Reminds me of a tale my Auntie Minnie told me------she said, when you were born Jackie, your sainted mother looked at you and uttered those immortal words " he's so damn ugly he's almost beautiful"-------that applies to today's Americas Cup Challengers like ORACLE and BAR!
Hells teeth, I'm rambling already and the Suns only just up, will be more lucid by lunchtime!
Lets hit the shop running this morning (figuratively speaking that is, only do the waltz myself), have a nice day peeps.J.

I think F1 will die soon becasue of cost and lack of engines
sst45 and F2 still going strong
F3 would be but lack of an engine

I said it a million times and you must all be sick and tired of hearing it----how can it ever be Formula 1 when it doesn't even have a Formula------Cash Rules!!
Me myself would start all over again with a clean sheet, limit of 1,000cc, distance of 100miles, ten gallons of pump gas!
Best advertising ever was with race boats , all the major players would back a simple, inexpensive
Formula, cap the price of the hull and motor and your half way there, you run what you brung till proved otherwise!

Oh yeah, I started the sail boat, found a chunk of Thai Teak out back, let the band saw and spoke shave do the thinking, see what transpires, bent a couple of bits of stainless plate, now the hard work begins but the candles all lit up again so it should come easy!

BEEN COOKING WITH GAS ALL DAY TODAY, amazing how time flies when your having fun, only mistake i made was using Thai Teak,. no wonder it been discarded out back all these years its a splinter box!!! i now have fingers full of blasted splinters, looks good though, a nice grain and flower effect, so i just gave it a single coat of Polish-------seemed to flatten the splinters.
Afraid thats it for the next four days, shops locked up, concept well under way, feeling quite chuffed with todays progress.
Other side of London to visit Jills eldest boy for the day, then back home for a spot of shuteye before heading down the road to Portsmouth for the early Fastcat to France on Sunday morning.
Taking the trusty i pad with me , so i should be able to keep you in the loop if anything untoward should happen!

Something I did earlier to remind me of a cranky, old LOCO, friend of mine.

The "COSWORTH" cost, £3,000 in 1978 from Hodges, that was bare hull, no rigging or instruments, not even a coat of paint.
A fresh built DFV Formula one race motor in Le Mans spec was £25,000. Guaranteed to run 24 hours!

Not many people interested in that fact.
Lets try you with this then. "BREAKING WIND KNEWS"
Some of you may know that the old farts have friends in high places, one of these being the fabled Donald Trump. He was asked by them to put together an Americas Cup all female crew called the "Love puffs", they will race a brand new concept boat called "HARSOUL"
boat was designed by "MAMMA-MIA" ---mad and mainly mental association of marine idiotic architects, to challenge the likes of, Oracle, Prada and BAR, also designed by the same mad marine architects.
Their friend Donald got to talking to his long lost cousin Heluv A. Gutsake who said he would also get involved building a sister ship to be named " PISTOFF".
When I hear more of this exciting tale I will pass it on ( as you do.)
Gotta go, London bound, keep in touch., enjoy the day!

You think it might be ex- barrier reef Canberra Cruise Liner Fleet, superfluous to requirements .
England takes everything from illegals to surplus Fast Cats from the Far East!
