I was always curious that your plates mount to the back of the shaft where the vacuum really works the fasteners. Good it was not worse. Excel exhaust is at 40mm.

Both parts, the head and the threaded are in the piston. The threaded hole in the throttle shaft is vacant LOL. I would like to find some high quality button head allens to replace them.

Is the Excel and the Special the same?
Just need a good height to shoot for. I may try and pick Hydrotecs brain and see if they will share with me. My buddy who does beautiful port work and lives right down the street is going to raise them up for me.

I think in the end letting spin a little higher with less load will be a better overall package. I only need 500 rpm to run the same 97.4 mph with a 30 pitch that I ran with the 32 pitch and the 30 runs much better. If I can run a 28 in the low 90's for every day boating my gearcase/propshaft bearing issues will likely be reduced.

Of course, I only need 200 rpm to break 100mph with the 32 and I think its really going to wake up now. The engine has 65 hours on it since the build. It will also give me a good chance to look at how everything we did is holding up.

Beefs motor ate a few brass pull overs, we found 1 in the reeds but the other 2 went through the motor. Not sure why but we never found a reason to pull it down. It ran 99 with a 26 and a 1.86 case when we noticed they were missing.

Sorry to hear the 4 banger has to come apart but I think if you give Gordon a shout you will be 100+ first time out.

BTW thanks for the new brackets 2 thumbs up for customer service

You know Ted with the Yellow Mirage. He is going to do it. I can literally walk it over to his house. No worries about shipping and his port work is really nice. This is just a little grinding and a freshen up. Probably cost me less than the 34 pitch prop i would need to go faster.

She is probably the only one that would. I outweigh her by 140 pounds so it would be interesting.....

These seem pretty conservative? I think Ted said the Merc 2.5 stuff is around 1.6
Mine has the ex relief notches as well.

Years ago when I was rebushing QJet carbs was a place that sold different throtle shaft screws. Think it was called the Carb Shop. Probably has a different name now but look at places that restore old muscle car carbs might hook you up with screws. I know I always used new screws when rebushing shafts.

The only difference between a stock 225 and a 250 (3.0 carb looper) is the exhaust port is .170 wider and .070 higher. The intake ports will have to be moved to move power up.

Just measured mine at 1.62" which is pretty high. Talked to Hydrotech and they say 1.550 max.

The early 200 Ex is at 1.69 or 43mm
My early 150 ProV is the same 1.69 with the addition of a 10mm or call it 3/8 notch.
    The 225 Excel is 1.57
These numbers are from engines I have measured.

So with yours at 1.62 that was a hotter tune than the 200 was, interesting.
Looking forward to what power you have with another 1.5 or 2mm port height.
    Regards,
    Charlie North
