Well, it turned out to be something of an anti-climax day, bit like biting into a "golden delicious"----or a "pink lady" and finding a big old worm in the middle.
Sun just didn't bother to show, cloud cover and moderate wind 18knots, and white caps in the Solent . Sod that for a game of soldiers methinks !! We stayed at the house catching up on current affairs, talking about the new conservatory Ange is going to build and at one o'clock decided to take a trip to Pompey and have an eat out lunch, nothing memorable, scampi and fries and a pint of London Pride.
So much for the day out on the Sunseeker!! It's Cowes week, regattas every day and a 1,000 boats entered for the round the island race, the Solent is full, so don't think we missed much. Things will be back to normal next week.

Tell you about my sisters though shall I?
Dad was flight engineer in bomber command flying Halifax bombers----did 36 ops over Germany to places like Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden and Gelsenkurchen , he was away from 1941-----1945 which meant there was plenty of time for my mother to put herself about a tad, which she managed with great flair and energy. I think I had 27 Canadian "uncles", 3 American, and one Australian, I learned "Texicana" when I was 10 years old and smoked "Sweet Caps" when I was 12.
Dad was demobbed in 1946 and tried to get mum back into line but without much success so he did the only thing that would curtail her extra caricular activities-----yup, you guessed it, he put "one up the spout". Man, I have to report that she was not best pleased at this turn of events, I was 17 and well into motorcycles by then, she used to love to ride pillion but that came to a sudden halt.
Angela was duly born and I loved this kid from that moment she appeared, mum started her shenanigans again so dad did what any good man would have done, he put her in the club again!!!
That kinda halted her waywardness and sure enough I had another sister----Janet.
Thats when I decided it was time to leave home for good and wave a fond farewell to my sainted mother and long suffering father.

ID:	302994That's my youngest daughter Sam, yesterday she was playing in a medal competition and shot a hole in one-----she is pictured celebrating with the mandatory bottle of DOM P. wouldn't mind, except this is the second "hole in one" -----I once got within 10 feet, but that's as close as I ever made.
Bad news is -----she's coming to Tavares to compete with my grandson Craig, oh well, worse things happen at sea (as my sainted mother used to say).

Dont know if you remember this chunk of stainless I picked up last year, never did quite know what to do with it, then had a sudden flash (as you do) and decided to make a hole in one trophy for Sam. Had a good day in the shop and things clicked together nicely.

Jill's boy Mathew wanted 100 wooden discs cut to do a tabletop----he then pours resin to a decent depth that you can look through and Voila----it's different anyway!!!
I was just doodling with a really nice sharp carving gouge and that's as far as I got 'cos I have no idea where I'm headed.
also made a couple of 4"x4"x6" mahogany bases for Fishie's dinghy to fit on the swim platform, they're for fixing the Weaver brackets to. Gave 'em two coats of varnish, will post a piccy tomorrow.

Ange has sent me a wonderful email entitled "BACK NINE"----I don't have a clue how to post it on here so I'll send it to Stavros-----(Seeroy to you) see if he can get it up here----well worth the read, believe me. Maybe send it to WILLABEE and ask for help, he's 'puter literate, so he says. Gotta go ,Murphy's at the window wanting admittance . MYGGWY .j.

It's nearly six and Thursday-----you know what that means-----car boot sale, see if I can get my touch back and pick up a genie lamp or a relic!!!
Stallholders start to queue up around 1am, they don't let them in until 7am----some 200 of them, gets a bit like the Calgary stampede----I like to get there around 7, there's an awful lot of business conducted long before the gates are lifted. Talk around noon today.j.

If I had to tell you what I've been and gone and done-----you would never believe it---you would say, "his lips are moving, he's lying" but hand on heart and honest to murgatroyd , I must have had a mad fit of depression. There the poor thing was, rusty, seized, and "orrible" just laid out , ready for incineration or internment ----it was piteous to perceive -----my heart was heavy and compassion was deep within me-----a tear trickled down my cheek as I asked the devious old git who was selling it-----"how little will you take for THE THING?"----then there's a bit of dialogue that goes, Gotta be worth close to a PONY,!!
Are you mentally disturbed, or just having a bad day?
    Ok Jackie----seeing as it's you, I'll take a score!!!
They weren't a score brand spanking new in the showroom .
Yeah, but I know and you know, there's very little wrong with it.
    Cobblers, it's seized !
    Never, it turns over,
    no it doesn't, I tried.
    Well it did,
that was then, this is now,
My last offer to you is £15
I have never paid more than a tenner for an anchor.
    Its an insult!,
Im off, ain't got time to argue, showed him the tenner----that did it-----he almost snatched my feckin hand off.
    Jackie ---your a thief !!!
    Well it is DEAD.

THREW IT ON MY SHOULDER AND NEAR COLLAPSE
It's called a light twin----nothing light about this I muttered as I staggered to the Lexus and dumped it in the back. Looked down at the dead piece of kit, put my head in my hands and said to myself-------you silly old sod----what have you done? You have lost what little street cred you had left-------------------I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A BLOODY JONRUDE!!!

    the Back Nine .....

    [QUOTE=jackiewilson;2667371]
MYGGWY .j.[/QUO

AND THEN IT IS WINTER .....

You know, time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.

It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.

But, here it is - the ' back nine' of my life and it catches me by surprise. How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go? I remember vividly seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that 'I was only on the first hole' and the 'back nine' was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.

But, here it is . . . my friends are retired and getting grey. They move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me, but I see the great change.
Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant . . . but like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd become. Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day!

And taking a nap is not a treat anymore . . . it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will, I just fall asleep where I sit!

And so, now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!
But, at least I know, that though I’m on the ' back nine' and I'm not sure how long it will last, this I know for sure, that when it's over on this earth . . . it's over. A new adventure will begin!

Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done . . . things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.

So, if you're not on the ' back nine' yet . . . let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long! Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether you’re on the 'back nine' or not! You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life . . . so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember, and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!

"Life" is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.

    LIVE IT WELL!
    ENJOY TODAY!
    DO SOMETHING FUN!
    BE HAPPY!
    HAVE A GREAT DAY!
Remember, "It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver."

    LIVE HAPPY IN 2014

    LASTLY, CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:

~Your kids are becoming you .. . . . . but your grandchildren are perfect.
    ~Going out is good . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Coming home is better!
    ~You forget names . . . . . . . . . . . . . . But it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!
~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything . . . especially golf!
~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don't care to do them anymore!
~You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than in bed. It's called "pre-sleep".
~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch.
    ~You tend to use more 4 letter words . . . "what?" .. . . "when?". . . ” ???
~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.
~You notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"!
~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
    ~Everybody whispers.
~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet . . . 2 of which you will never wear.

~ But Old is good in some things, Old Songs, Old Movies, and best of all, OLD FRIENDS.

Stay well, "OLD FRIEND! " Send this on to other "Old Friends!" and let them laugh in AGREEMENT.
It's Not What You Gather, But What You Scatter That Tells What Kind Of Life You Have Lived.
TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE, SO ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS

These are the blocks I made for the "weaver Fixings" that hold the dinghy onto the swim platform !
bought another bunch of lathe cutters and centre bores, flat bits, jig saw, 2mole grips and a pair of two foot steel rules ( to join all the other tools I didn't really want in the filing cabinet).
Still reeling from the shock of being stupid enough to buy a bloody old outboard anyway, but a flamin "Rude" ------ugh, it makes me cringe to think of it. Was going to renovate it and make it serviceable ----but the damn thing ain't worth what I paid for it- ($16 u.s.----so the kindest thing I could do for it is chuck it into the canal, or bin it, or bury it, it's probably dead anyway.
Sincerely hope you all read "The Back Nine", I thought it was really poignant and would be applicable to most of you. Eyes are droopy, MYGGWY .J.

Hairs getting long and the beards a bit straggly, Jilly just demanded she gives me a haircut and beard trim this morning. Who am I to disagree ?
Nearly finished SAM'S hole in one trophy----quite pleased with it on the hole.
Made the base out of English oak, following the base shape left a couple of odd shaped pieces of 2" timber which I started messing with, this means I have four projects on the go at once. Must buckle down and finish em off, then clear up the shop and start again.
Wonder if " DONMAC " up there in Canada has his nose to the grinder, his season should be in full swing.
Wonder if that huge garage/workshop ever got finished, damned if I can remember if it was Dave or Gary that was doing that!!
Still, time to stop reminiscing and get my rear in gear, tomorrow is here right now.
