One of those wonderful balmy days we get twice a year here in the UK, cranked the pool up to 26 degrees in expectation of the hordes.
Spent a very pleasant morning working on the towers, then had a call from Jilly to "come drink your Pimms". All very celubrious fare----more news later.

Dubs may have snapped up, Audi, Bentley and Buggatti but I don't have to own one, you cannot buy " class".
You may have gathered by now that das peeples fartin-spitten-vargon is not one of my favourite modes of transport -----though I have owned a couple of Audis-----( again VW did a Remington)
Fourteen years ago I bought a brand fire new GTI, battery went dead after 1week, stopped on me twice more before I outed it, Swopped it for Jill's four year old 320 Mercedes -----I had -had it six weeks and managed just 321 miles in the damn thing.
Your right---I don't even remember why I am telling you all this, maybe it'll come back to me in a mad fit of depression .
. Well Jackie when you bought the new VW Golf Gti aged 68 yrs old I think you may have been having a midlife crisis its a hooligans car Jackie or in your case a boy racers car.Sure her indoors wouldn't like flying up and down those French country lanes with you growing horns so she had what she wanted a more luxurious mode of transport hence the Nice comfy Merc 320.Well that's what I think but wait on a minute I remember you having a Audi A3 TDI only about 3yrs ago and you posted on a site that it was a terrific car and never let you down and did 55mpg now your Audi A3 is a Golf wearing a different jacket everything that makes it go and stop are the same. Now let's get back to driving racing boats you paid good money to race a Johnrood in 1978 you must have though it worthwhile or you wouldn't have done it?

Steve, I am not good at multitasking-----wish you would ask me just one question at a time-------I do not do mid life crises-----I was mistakenly advised by my Grandson that I would grow to like the GTI ------IT WAS A FRICKIN BUG WITH THE MOTOR IN THE FRONT.
Her who shall be obeyed had a yen for a ragtop-------she wanted a 320 SLK -----what Madame wants, Madame gets, and I have to say Stevie, it outperformed the GTI in all departments.
It did have a downside, we only used it in summer, you could not possibly wear a hat------cockpit was like the centre of a tornado and my head got bloody sunburnt.
Jilly loved that car ------she owned it for 4years and covered 2,000 miles.
Do I have to remind you that just because goes the rat goes into the pig sty, it don't make him a porki --workie,
VW make bugs with flat fours------Audi were making proper engines long before "Mien Fuhrer" came up MIT der peeples splashin vagon.
That was another of my mistakes----I listened to ALFIE BULLEN!!! All my senses were screaming at me not to do it-----Alfie was a lovely chap, but disaster was never very far away when he hit Paris, Money for six hours of gas up front----entry fee ----up front---insurance ---up front. Bear in mind, I didn't even get a practice lap in.
    i tell you Steve-----Alfie -----Jonroods----VeeDubs---- +-JRW-----it's a no go.

Then to cap it all I get this invitation to join him for dinner at the Hilton, so all is not lost methinks-----we have the full monty---all the champagne you can drink---lobster----steaks---caviar, brandy and let's not forget the "Humidor" -----Have a 10"Churchill, what a celebration, ------then Alfie drops his bombshell----get out of here fast as you can-------Alfie did a runner !!!
Not at any time have I ever thought it was worth trying to drive a BLOODY JONROOD. And a good night to one and all.J.

Well, nobody called, was going to post pic of twin tower effort but I forgot and left the camera downstairs. Too late to trundle down and back up again, Sorry 'bout your bad luck.
"Powerabout" --- I don't do riddles either, so I'll have a one shot stab at Dave, and if you told me before, I apologise-------body is staging a protest -----saying something about sleep, so I have to go, MYGGWY.J.

As as far as I got with the twin tower project-----American oak-----seemed appropriate somehow.
Thats the little Roller that went for $16-----a lot of hours went into that----that's what gave me the " Hump"-------16bucks-------I ask you?

Found that out too late to save the Roller Johnno, did sell a multitude of gear and machines I don't use---------got half the fare to Florida and still need to clear more out.
Son Mark tells me " dad, if you haven't used it in the last 12months, sell it" he's right, I just sold a dozen old carving chisels---I probably could round up another dozen I never touch------the half dozen I use will do anything I'm capable of.
Used the whole. 86,400 gifts today, Jilly and I went to see Sissinghurst Castle and gardens in Kent.
Its fairly well established----the lawns have been rolled and cut for the last 600 years and are looking quite respectable. 1pm on the dot, she pulled out the picnic hamper and laid the blanket on the ground !!!!
I feel I should tell you the lunch menu----SMOKED SCOTTISH SALMON--lemon and black pepper
thinly sliced and buttered brown bread with a rocket and water cress salad drenched with honey mustard. CHICKEN EN CRUTE GLUGGED WITH A WHITE MACON BERGUNDY!!!
Followed by a well matured French Brie and black Muscadet grapes and water biscuits ( crackers to colonials). Just to round it all off she produced a PERFECT Cavaillon melon which we managed to devour with some gusto.
Sun was shining, 78 degrees, I just stretched out and had forty winks and thanked God for another of his perfect BEAR EATING days.

THATS A SNAP OF THE 600 YEAR OLD LAWN.good night all, j.

Was a very memorable day Dave.
Did the Goodwood FOS-----(festival of speed) last year-----don't suppose you can still get tickets at this late stage.
Thought I might try "The Goodwood Revival" this year----it's never a cheap day out, tickets start at around $200 and if you want to go to the Ball ----I would imagine it'll set you back closer to $500.
Will have a look on the net and see the availability.
