Tim, I will look through my videos for that. Unfortunately over the years and my first wife copying over and throwing away my old racing videos. I have very little compared to what I use to have. I have a bunch more Unlimited outboard videos to post. It takes a lot of time to copy them from the VHS to DVD and then edit them, especially since this is the first time doing it.

I have most of the VHS converted now, so I should be able to post some new videos on youtube a lot faster. Also, I will post updates on the boat here soon with some pictures. We are getting Jon's boat ready, so I will post some of that project here.

Wow... That video was rough. What happened there? Steering problem? It wasn't your usual blow over. The boat turned left all of a sudden.
Sobering footage right there. I hate to think of the part you edited out. May he rest in peace.

The motor locked up/ blew up, which causes these boats to get very violent since the gearcase and prop stops with the motor, not like a sportmaster and will ratchet. I believe the skeg broke off after the motor locked up and it got side ways. Earl Moorman was crewing for Tom then and I know they loaded the motor with more NOS for that pass to beat Jon. Yes, the part I edited out is horrible. The gearcase came around and struck Tom in the back and punctured his heart. Tom died instantly. You will hear Roger Monroe saying "the boat got him." Very sad, but we all know the risk. Tom's death pretty much mandated the capsules and probably has save a lot of lives since this mandate. I do not know of one true unlimited outboard drivers death, since Tom's. Correct me if I am wrong.

Thats a sad loss but great to see that changes in the sport resulted from it

I weighed one of the V-8's today. The powerhead alone is right at 305 lbs. The mid weighs 75 lbs and I am guessing the lower weighs 40 lbs. Sitting here with a calculator trying to see what makes most sense. Probably save turbo motor for later.

Pretty sure it was a production V-8 he had modified. The one I saw him run was. Jon bult everything out of junk piles.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAQvXt1_lf4 This video of Jay Fisher in Miss Lori's Ghost (white boat) and Jon Wright in Doo Dad 2 (yellow boat). This video was taken at Spring City Tennessee in 1993. I was there with a Vision Craft running in the bracket classes. The video is poor because of it being VHS and converted, plus my ex was running the camera I really didn't want to be there. Jay does not crash in this video, but man was he bent out of shape big time. The motor blow up and locked up the gearcase.
