Tricks that old racers get up to after retirement

Was running at 8000 rpm and 123 mph———- boat would lift its port sponson and wave to the crowd.
I tried many times to drive through it——- had the wing at every setting imaginable ——— took the wing off———— shifted weight——- nothing would let that boat run any more than 123.
Annoying thing is——- I could run at 10,000 rpm—— which would (theoretically) have given over 150—Just never managed it!
