Also wet sand 400 grit the back 4ft of the bottom up to the pad. In a starboard to port motion will also slick up the bottom. You never want to wax the very bottom of the hull as the wax will bead the water and the droplets have a two fold effect. The biggest issue will be increased aerated water to the prop decreasing bit effecting thrust and second works against the displacement effecting buoyancy to a lesser degree. Swept skeg is seff explanatory. The leading edge of the bottom of the skeg shouldn't be right angled. A slight radius is best. Because your ocean running i wouldnt sweep it as far back as a lake runner would. Titus cases are some of the finest modded cases and alot of guys like them alot!! The one above was done buy him im pretty sure. Having a little more meat on the skeg for were your running with seaweed and wave jumps ect.. is a good thing. The smaller and more sweeped the skeg the less drag but theres a small trade off for little tiny bit of speed gained . The water and conditions also have to be weighed. Looking way better. If you do anything else at least radius that front bottom edge a little. You can look at alot of stock SM and see what I mean.
If the the water leaves the case on the sides it will have less rudder effect and hence be going sideways in the water so back to square one surely?
If it did leave the side and re attach surely that would only happen at a certain speed or can you order a blunt case to suit your max speed?
    Inquiring mind..

My yellow one is a small 200 case. They came with a smaller skeg than the newer ones do and the only explanation that would be a guess is that there is less drag at neutral trim and even less at a slight tilt past neutral. Hence radiusing the leading edge. Its an Allison mode thing I have a drawing with instructions on how to do this and it shows what you see with the bottom of the skeg sloped up more. It doesn't explain why though? Most Vees run way more trim that an Allison does. For instance a Checkmate will run past neutral trim and the angle of attack on the bottom of the skeg with the black one will be running angled like the yellow one at neutral on an Allison with the lip forcing the bow down and stern up requiring less trim if that makes sense? haha One of {theee} fastest gearcases I know of on a single outboard Vee hull is a name i cant spell or pronounce. Its a Steinbeck case {German sounding} is what it sounds like. some one will know what i mean and help me out there. They also are sloped. They have a longer bullet and were very expensive to have done. But they helped guys reach 125-135 in XR Allison's back in the late 80.s and 90.s. one more little thing about the swept skeg is at speed very little movement is required to ballance on the pad. Having a more perpendicular shape might interfere more with handling?? just a guess also. Also because the skeg is so swept pack in order to get any meat on the bottom of the skeg it would have to be cut upward or your left with a small bottom of the skeg and that would be weaker.
I'm gonna read this when I ain't been drinking! Thanks for the response...ill get back with ya

i thought the biggest was a 28 with a 15 1/4 dia? if so I think Im going to have to run 31 32 to get some numbers.... or at least I hope I can, the biggest numbers Ive seen on a superboat and a progression was a 32 3 blade labbed cleaver which i have, and I have a 30 3 blade mazco so i have 6 different variants to try, hopfully one of them will be the magic bullet... ill post as I run them but do I need a go pro data to show the speeds? I guess if I run tall numbers I will......

Mike the Etec is a great motor, if your not looking for real performance, dont get me wrong there are guys on this board that make monsters out of them, my problem was I could only go so far before I voided the warrenty, dont forget I did upper and lower mounts, I screwed with that gear untill i was blue in face, but 1.85 gears and a fat gear case just wont cut it, and there 300 hp rating is in reality maybe 275 hp.... so if your looking for a good reliable sewing machine the etec may be a good choice, there like Hondas good reliable transportation......
