I clearly remember the Mercury factory and Mercury supporters saying that the OMC F1-V8 series/racing could not be successful because no one is interested in racing when there is only one engine supplier..
Pretty funny statement in today's world..

Have you seen the TV ad for Honda lately? It's got a brief shot from inside the cockpit of an F1 tunnel with a Honda logo. So where's the engine?

Have not seen this particular commercial that you speak up but I would be wondering the same thing too on the marine sure hasn’t said anything to any of the dealers. It’s funny as much involvement is on the horizon motorsports that Honda participates in don’t do much for the promotion of their outboard motors.

Here is a picture of the Honda powered F1/F2 tunnel long time ago.
Honda did not continue with this.

The UIM OE/F3 class start in Liege, Belgium 1984. Plenty of racers and power from Mercury, Selva, Konig Johnson & Evinrude.
#21 is my brother Lennart Strom in his Sjoberg/Evinrude CC boat.

The second picture is the 21 boat under construction by Sture Sjoberg

Agreed..........most people watching the broadcast wouldn't even notice how Honda twisted the facts.
