I’ll post a pic of my HO later.

They we’re the only boots we sold that you could put on in the water.

    I can’t ski to save my A w/o a rear boot.

BTW, in that era the slalom guys were badddasses!
The Lapoint Bros, Andy Mapple, Sammy Duval etc…….

I wanted to marry Sammys sister Camille!
    Yikes!

Who didn't want Camille! When they would come to our Tournament lake, Thompson Lake, I would always gravitate to Camille - Sammy was OK too!

Always had a fondness to the barefoot centurion. Mike Sieple skied behind them for years. But like most boats they were made for one thing only… barefoot skiing.

    Agreed.

    Very nice lines.

Our shop Owner was very big on bringing the pros in that represented our various lines.

I can’t pull the guys name that was a young buck in the time and 2 time world barefoot champion we put on a seminar with him several times.

Was also good friends with one of my best buds and skiing with us it his River Place.

I remember my wife at the time almost wetting herself when he changed right in front of us. Absolutely zero inhibitions :-)

But with a body like that….

We go to Lake Gaston several times a year. Used to ski race there back in the 80s. Full of wakesurf boats now screwing up the coves. Its refreshing to see a real waterskier come by, but it aint often.

    My HO.

I skied on all of the best of the best at that time and this was by far my favorite.
Especially suited by style or, lack there of!

Has to be 30+ yrs old now.
Very trick for the time. Tons of adjustment for the boot including foot bed and mounting points fore an aft.
Also had adjustable wing for the fin that could totally change the attitude of the ski.

I always thought it was the prettiest too with the graphics even on the bottom.

A $700 ski in its day.
Slalom was huge then and I was making more commission selling skis than boats.

I bought material to make a display shelf for it for my shop wall with mirrors for the bottom so you could see it too.

Had the pleasure of meeting Bob Maher (Maharaja Waterski) a few years ago. In the 70s he put a young salesman on the road with a motorhome, swag, and a credit card to tour the country for the summer. He came to one of our ski races, and gave me a poster of Suzanne Summers, topless, with a Maha decal on her chest. I mentioned this to him (still have it) and he said at that time she was struggling, he didn't have a large marketing budget, so they struck a deal. One printing of the poster was done, no more. Bob said he has remained friends with her, still owns the rights to the poster, and will never print another one.

Sean Goodman gets 80 in his 19' J with a 225. Ours is set up more for skiing (bow tank, no setback) and will run 61 with a ski prop using our 150HO. I have seen top speed on any of the new ones with high power. The one I drove ran out of revs around 45 mph.

J Crafts were THE waterski boat in Ontario back in the 70's. Of course now it's mostly old guys (I am 63) who ski. I'd like to try barefooting but I worry about banging myself up and missing a few weeks of summer fun.

I had the fuel pump on my 200XS replaced by Gordon Bay. They were easy to work with. They had test rides/skis with the new 21J in 2020 and 2021. My family had a try out in 2020. Again easy to set up. Your results may vary

I built mine just like the Maja’s.

They we’re solid wood, not laminated.
Strips of different wood species glued edge to edge like a cutting board.

Ash to cherry to oak to walnut etc.
    Light dark, light dark.

Wished I would have kept one.

Tried to get our shop owner to let me sell them in his shop but he had too much fun making fun of how the tip/nose bounced across the wakes.

    He was right.

While showing off to the buddy that taught me to slalom, I stuffed the tip crossing our wake and that tip insulted me further by blasting me straight in the forehead and laid my head open like an old carp!

    10 stitches in the ER.
My buddies waited with me and we were all pissed at how long it took.
Seemed it was softball night in the ER!

Totally filled a beach towel w/blood while waiting.
Nurses kept coming by and showing their surprise that I hadn’t passed out yet!

My buddies repaid me by drinking all our beer in the truck while waiting.

when I say laminated I mean the thickness of layers of diffferent woods and colors , they were beautiful

Very cool thread, also a was a huge slalom skier back in the day. I still remember the 1st time I deep water started on 1 ski like it was yesterday

all the the names mentioned bring back memories of the waterski magazine I would wait for every other month the boat adds were cool too

connelly concept was my ski with the double concave bottom, still have it too

we always free skied up in ny at high tide in the flats at dusk, went down to fla to ski and was shunned at the concept of “ free skiing “ run the course, drop in discuss what you did wrong, shorten the line repeat!
