That day was the end of an era. The Gold Coast would never be run to West Palm Beach and back again. I am glad I also finished that race that day.Click image for larger version.

My wife will be glad that I have no place to put such a motor or a boat to run it on. Lucky for her I don't know what happened to this one.Click image for larger version.

I attended the auction in 2010 and watched the bidding. Once the boat sold, I took note of the winning bidder.
He was seated near the front of the crowd. I saw him get up and go out the back of the tent. It was so crowded
I could not follow him, so I went out the front and was walking around to see if I could spot him when Roy's son
Dusty and grandson Dustin walked out of the tent and I also wanted to talk to them as we had been corresponding
about the boat. Spent the next 15 minutes or so talking with them, and then went and tried to find the successful bidder
but he was no where to be found. I did not even get his name and neither Dusty nor Dustin knew who he was.
I have not heard nor seen a trace of the boat since. Assume it's tucked away in someone's private collection.

Wonder why all these singles are racing across 'Hot Multi's'?

Hey Gene, with Tiny Pic gone , I was wondering if you have tried this .....

After you have typed your text, click on the 'insert image' icon on the tool bar ..... click browse, click on the selected pic, click upload .... when the pic appears in your text it will look small,

double click on the pic, click on 'full size' and then on 'okay'

...one of my favs back then, for years, was a hauptner craft with the 80/85 Merc shortshaft, in the late 60's/early 70's. wish i could find a photo comparable to this in quality, of a hauptner... (the hauptner helped start the hydrostream line)

Thanks FUJIMO. I was fortunate to have campaigned that boat for about 5 seasons and it never got old.
