There was 20 ON class boats with OMC engines (Evinrude/Johnson) in the Paris 6 hour race 1970.
13 ON class boats was powered by Mercury and 2 Carniti powered boats.
Here is the complete entry list for the race.
The #26 ON entry with Carniti power was pretty interesting. In line 6 with cylinder heads.
    See last picture.
Mr. Carniti and my friend Angelo Vassena was driving the #26 boat.

Jimbo McConnell/Ted May in the #15 Evinrude Starflite SS powered boat got great attention in the pit with a dummy appropriately wearing a Red Indian battle bonnet in the cockpit.
In the race the unique looking #15 boat crashed out early but the driver was OK.

This Cougar was the first picklefork boat that they raced have you noticed how deep the steps are and how far forward the steps are and we have a young Clive Curtis kneeling down on the jetty. After the Earle of Normanton who I think was James Beards brother in law had his serious spin in this boat he never raced circuit boats again but I think you may have known Ros Knot the editor of the water ski and powerboat magazine she did marry the Earle in later years.

The no 15 boat that McConnell drove I was told was built by a guy named GOAT that worked for OMC .

This #196 boat with Johnson Stinger V4 power looks similar to the #15 boat Jimbo drove and crashed in Paris 1970.
Thanks Tim Schroer for the picture.

Pretty sure this is a Goatboat. I remember Goat helped me repair my F1-V8 Burgess 1983 before the race in Minneapolis.

GOAT- Bob Nagode. One of Jimbo's 'Goat' boats was for sale awhile back from a buddy of mine. Not sure if he sold it or not.

Looks like I can't link it but the ad is on the boatracingfacts website.

Well I worked for Kenty Sjöholm the Swedish distributor for Carniti in Sweden around 1970. The quality of Carniti outboards was very low and most outboards was used for racing.
Few made it the the finish line. I remember Kenty talking about the in line 6 but I think only two or three engines was ever built.
Later I become a very good friend of Angelo Vassena and he told me many fun stories when he was responsible for Carniti sales-prodution. Carniti more or less closed down late 1973.
The answer is NO..there is none of those 2 or 3 inline 6 from Carniti around.
I have some more info here:

    http://svera.se/blogg/in-line-six-ca...-hours-196970/

A picture of Angelo Vassena and a young Muhammad Ali.

Kenty Sjöholm and his Piraya/Carniti 65. I was co-pilot ones in this boat below.

I don't think so. Years ago Selva did some work for OMC. Selva was also involved with Seven Marine to develop the transmission for the 627HP outboard.
Today Selva is heavily involved with Yamaha Outboards
