My 20" 300 V8 was 565 lbs. You can bet the jackplate that broke was not rated for near the weight or power that was on it. Todays jackplates are more up to the task of the extra weight and power. Good luck. I think it looks great.

    Sea star or verado?

Been a while since I picked up my my verado pump but it felt like it took 7-8lbs of fluid alone.

It's a Verado pump. Sea star pump may be a pound or two heavier

This is a 400r on the back of a 22ft velocity. The transom looks like its about to flex right into the drink like the V8 jackplate did. wow that thing is flexing alot!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyPnT2Xkk_Q

I'm using a R+R Slidemaster 8" jackplate. The front and rear halves interlock like a keyway. I doubt it will have any problems.

Dry 400r is 668lbs plus 2 gallons of oil your at ~683lbs plus a 40-50lb power steering pump and you have ~730ish on or near the transom. So your closer to 200lbs all said and done.
My 400R on my Checkmate is stamped 695 lbs on the sn tag.

I have the boat all finished. It will go back on the trailer Monday and then to the lake. Here's some interior pics. It was raining too much to pull it outside for pics.

Finally got the boat back on the trailer and took it to the lake this morning. It was very windy with about a 1.5ft white cap chop. The lake it only 1.25 miles long. I had a 31" 5 blade cleaver that I borrowed. It was on the limiter at 7200 rpm at 107 mph. Got there real fast though. I next tried a 34" dewald 4 blade cleaver that Joe Perog loaned me. It hit the 7200 limiter at 102 mph. I'm guessing it slips so much due to the high engine hieght. I had the propshaft at 2.5" above the bottom and still had 32 lbs of water pressure. No point in raising it yet until I get a bigger prop and smooth water. I'll be getting a pair of 34x15 Mercury Max5 five bladed props wednesday. I ordered them for my yellow 25 Liberator, but will try the RH on this boat.

This looks encouraging. Acceleration of 400 to a twin rig?
