    Miami 225's

I bet Gary, Seebold & I were talking about boats.

Yes, the 'group picture' featuring the stackers would be February, 1970. The 'blown out' Miami 225 was 1972 and this is the correct (and maybe only) photo from that event. This was the first race that all of the Team boats were fitted with the C6.

I think he either died on the way back to FL, on a med helicopter, or in the hospital after he got back. Memory is getting short.
Being the naive young midwesterner I wasn't aware of what he was into and hung out with him at the Miami Boat Show prior to his death. Boy was I enlightened. Never saw him after that.

No, its not. The US has a lot of groups outside US APBA/UIM, but even they usually have a strict rulebook.

Finally found a photo of the "sit-down pickle fork" that Bill Critchfield built and Jeff Titus drove. It was discussed somewhere on this thread I think. You can see the steps that were added to free it up, but it didn't help. It was still either stuck or trying to blow over, which it did in Belle Glade...1971/2?? Bill burned it back in Orlando. I think he ran S class. I'm sure Ole Gator knows more about it...???

I recall Jeff running a kneel down ScatCraft with a Mercury for a while in J class I think. This boat might date to late 71. I stepped away for a while in 71 during my rookie year at the fire department and this is the first I ever saw of this boat. I never drove a ScatCraft but I was told they were a different kind of animal.

This would be the boat you remember. Jeff drove it to a national record in Sport I using a Merc 1000 in 1970. I remember this picture because Powerboat had mistakenly captioned it as Jimbo passing Kitson in T class!

There was a second miscaptioned picture in that Powerboat article about the 1970 Miami Nationals. It said Jeff Titus won Sport I but it pictured Jimbo and Kitson.

I have an attic full of " Tri Club Regatta" trophies. These races were very popular at the time. Often ramp space would be at a premium relegating latecomers to the far end of the pits on the unpaved shore. Along with the turnpike toll there was the toll for the causeway which was pretty high towing a trailer.
