    verado 350 sci JUNK!

    okay so I am new here! I have been over on the verado club and found no help there. and no help from mercury and my dealer is scratching his head! I just recently bought a new 2015 verado 350 sci. I have owned a 200 inline 4 on this boat pushed it 53 mph. Had a 225 pushed it 58 mph and when I did the whipple 300 tune it pushed it 68mph eco enertia 21 pitch @ 6800 rpms. Now I have bolted a 350 sci on it . IT tunes the 21 eco entertia same prop I ran on the 225 cant turn over 5480 rpms and 53 mph.... Mercury raised the motor all the way up and it runs the same rpms. I have a 25 pitch tempest and it turns it 5480 . I drop 4 pitch and gain no rpms. ON the run file it is gernerating boost and all the sensors are in relm. but it has a heavy load on the engine. According to mercuy with my boat weighing 1548 plus 30 gallons of fuel. and 900 lbs in tackle and people the 21 pitch should be to small and I should be a 23 on this boat.

    They are all scratching their head. Mercury has admitted something is going on can't figure it out. I have had the motor in the shop since octoboer with no solid answers. I bought the motor October 6. Put 20 hrs on it and and has been in the shop since then. I am furious with mercury however I can't get any answers.

    5.44 and 1.75 gear ratio. The we raise the motor 3 inches on the transom and gained 0 rpms.....its like the motor is stuck in some kind of limp mode with out the alarm and at 5400 rpms

    should be haulin the mail suprized dealer cant figure it out how does it run like chit or smooth have they done leakdown on motor ?
    maybe air in the fuel system I use a laser temp gun start engine and check plug temps gives you a clue where to look ,fuel ,air ,spark.
    I don't know if they have timing arm by screw adjustment try advancing it little at time see if it picks up

    It runs smooth as can be had perfect fuel pressure everything is in tolerance on the run files except there is a heavy load on the motor and they can't figure out been in shop 5 months and mercury acts like I'm dumb for requesting a new motor......they even hooked up and out source fuel tank with air plane fuel...didn't help

    Optima Blue top........have actually tried 2 other batters thought maybe it would be low voltage but also no code for low voltage... here is a list that we have check

    batterys
    fuel preasure
    engine height
    exhaust restriction
    leak down test
    cylinder drop test
    cam shafts
    timing
    fuel
    fuel preasure

    All the test are passing but on the engine run file they can tell something is making a hard load on the engine....so they thought lets raise the motor.....raised it 3 holes and it stops at the same rpms...the motor just seems to go flat at those rpms.......now the tech is saying digging deep to check for a crank bearing or cam bearing that is binding in i and i dont really want a new motor with low hours on it less than 25 tore apart and re assebmled.... I have asked them to try a new computer.....These motors run on the same computer but different programming i'm really wondering if the computer has the wrong programming....like maybe a program for a 250 motor.

    i debated between the 350 and the 300 wish i would have went with the 300 now.

    I have heard of issues with people running deep cycle batteries and anything oher than the recomended agm type batteries. Sounds rediculius but i know someone who spent weeks going crazy trying to find an issue caused by a merc dealer replacing a battery with the incorrect type.

    I'll check into this...I know voltage and stuff was one of the first things they tested...and this is the same battery I just un bolted my 225 from

    what fuel is in the tank? Im no Verado guy but doesnt that motor de-tune itself if the octane sensor detects sub 89 octane?

    Fresh 93 in tank and we also ran it with 105 aviation fuel no difference.

    Hi!

    I have 350 hrs on my 350 sci without one single hickup, and the engine is much stronger than the Merc PM 300 SVS I had back in time. Its in fact 6-7 mph faster.

    I have read that some Vrods have experienced issues with the pencil coils. Also, i would have double checked all electrical. Once my battery connections was not tight enough and the engine did not spin above 3000 rpms. A correct electrical set up is essential.

    According to merc they have checked all that cause of the known issues.....so we'll see
