My current cowl has a vent in the front you can see in the pics if you look close. I just picked up another cowl for project. I am going to cut the sides, top, front, and back out of it making just a frame then fill in with carbon panels. Shouldnt be too complicated or expensive.13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"

The easy route to a gear swap would be a v6 case. Sure its a little taller, but its really not that big of a deal,, other than another 5-10lbs. find some early Excel gears, they were something like 1.7:1.
I know the inshore case is cool, but along with the cool factor comes the lack of available gear ratios and replacement parts...the power head will be a little higher, but this will also be more convenient for tilting/trailering.Mike Dowling

I ordered this little bellows to put in my gearcase. Should stop the problem I have with the gearlube expanding/contracting. Its a part used on the differentials of CanAm 4 wheelers.

Talked to John at Hydrotec and they cut a stock 130 tuner down to 12-3/4" and gained almost 6hp at 6500. Mine would likely gain more and do even better up near 7000 where I seem to peak out. It did lose almost 7hp at 4500 though so its a big trade off.13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"

Has anyone you know of worked with V6 tuners on the fours?
Curious if a late model,"long" V6 tuner would respond well.Regards,

I put an old hydrotec v6 "high torque" tuner on my v4 and it killed performance. Replaced it with an older 130 tuner recommended by hydrotec and the motor came to life. The v4's seem to like merging both banks into 1 runner. The 130 tuner I used had somewhat of a bubble/expansion area where the two banks merged into one, and the single outlet was roughly 1.5 times the size of the stock 2002 115 tuner....
An interesting note is that the ht5252 high torque tuner was originally advertised as a v4/v6 tuner...shortly after giving my feedback about my experience to John at Hydrotec, the ht5252 was soon only advertised as a v6 tuner...Mike Dowling

The old 150 ProV has a fair bit of volume but is short after the merge. Curious if an extension on it might work presuming it allows more volume.
I know my engine did not lack in torque, obviously the exhaust side of a V6 is different.

John said the best V4 tuner is the stock 130 tuner.
I still need to try the 115 exhaust chest plate. I have it and gaskets just never got around to testing it.13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"

Chris- the exhaust plate question has never been definitively answered, your results will be very interesting if you ever get around to it. That is the part I hate replacing more than anything else due to gasket cleanup....

Having a spare water jacket cover is helpful--i don't know what happened to the original v4 one I had....
