Musk goes nuclear: "Without me, Trump would have lost the election"

Elon Musk declared all-out war on President Trump Thursday, writing on X: "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate."

"Such ingratitude," Musk added.
Why it matters: The public breakup between Trump and Musk — a key adviser who spent nearly $300 million to support the president's campaign and Republicans in 2024 — has escalated dramatically.

Amid Musk's tirade on X, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the former DOGE head "just went crazy" and threatened to cancel Musk's billions of dollars' worth of government contracts.
Musk then posted: "Time to drop the really big bomb: Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!"
Context: At the heart of the feud is Trump's signature "One, Big, Beautiful Bill," a massive tax-and-spending package projected to add trillions to national debt over the next 10 years.

After Musk launched a lobbying campaign to "Kill the Bill" on Wednesday, Trump suggested to reporters that the Tesla CEO was angry about the legislation rolling back electric vehicle tax credits.
Tesla stock plunged more than 15% as the extraordinary clash unfolded.
What they're saying: "Whatever. Keep the EV/solar incentive cuts in the bill, even though no oil & gas subsidies are touched (very unfair!!), but ditch the MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK in the bill," Musk wrote on X.

As Trump was openly discussing their tense relationship during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office, Musk dug up old tweets of the president railing against deficit spending and increases to the debt limit. "Where is this guy today?" Musk asked.
Musk also denied Trump's claim that he "knew the inner workings of the bill better than anybody," writing: "False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!"
Between the lines: Democrats and liberal pundits have long speculated that the relationship between Trump and Musk — two huge personalities with strong personal views — would end in disaster.


But for six months, there was barely any daylight: As recently as last week, Trump honored Musk in the Oval Office and praised him as a "friend" who did excellent work on DOGE.
Now, with Musk having exited the administration, the relationship is collapsing — spectacularly — in full public view.
What to watch: "Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?" Musk asked in a poll of his millions of loyal X followers.

He later wrote in response to speculation about who Republicans would choose: "[S]ome food for thought as they ponder this question: Trump has 3.5 years left as President, but I will be around for 40+ years …"

Only a couple of points to make on this political lovers quarrel.

1. Elon accuses Trump of being on the Epstein client list... That was basically Elon going full nuclear and pushing the big red button.. That button cannot be un-pushed.. If Elon really has proof that Trump abused minors on Epstein island lets see it already.. And if that proof exists then bury Trump under the jail along with everyone else that is guilty.. I'm tired of all talk and no action on this subject. Anyone who is guilty needs to be buried yesterday, I don't care who it is.

2. The bill is too big. It just is. There is too much in it for anyone to even know what they are voting on. Its the same problem with most of these bills passed in my lifetime.. Stop with the giant bills. We need many many single issue bills where what is being voted on is crystal clear to everyone.. This is common sense.. Why no one in any party can seem to get this done once they get in power is very very disappointing. That said.. What pork Elon? Be specific.

3. The 80% in the middle? Who the hell are these people? There is no 80% majority of Americans that agree on anything.. Abortion? Tax rates? Environmental mandates? Immigration? Trans issues? Entitlement programs? Size and scope of government? Reparations? I can go on.. There is no 80% majority that agrees on any of those major issues. 80% of people might agree that we don't want any new wars and that Congress is damn near useless.. That's about it.. We will fight tooth and nail about everything else... Elon's 3rd party is a pipe dream.

THAT'S why he hates the bill that is before the house. There was a disagreement and both got pissed off and the regrettable happened. These are two very strong willed men. There was bound to be conflict. President Trump cannot/ will not bend the rules for Elon. This is NOT the Brandon admin....That's why Trump mentioned that he couldn't believe Biden didn't cut the funding long ago... I'm with the Pres. on this. I hope they can mend fences and get back on track with their cooperation to help build American industry. This provides fodder for the Dems, to rant about. Not sure it will sway public opinion.

Elon committed social suicide. He's his own worst enemy. ( Unless this is some giant psy-op?) Trump will come out on top, there is no doubt. The bill is def. inflated, and hopefully Trump has the answer for why it is constructed the way it is. I had heard the plan was to pass it "as is" and then whittle it down with legislation gradually. The bill is not dead, but may be delayed which is what Musk needs to protect his investments. It gives him time to prepare.

Mend fences? What fences? After Elon accused Trump of being among those who assaulted minors on Eptsein Island the fence has been burnt to the ground... There is virtually nothing worse he could have said about the man.. In writing no less and then backed it up by saying to bookmark that post because the truth is coming out..

Like I said, after an accusation like that there are only two scenarios that can logically play out.

1. Elon comes with the evidence and Trump goes to jail along with everyone else that is guilty.
2. Elon lied about that and should be 100% excommunicated from the Trump admin..

You cant just make an accusation like that and get away with it..

It Trump and Elon have a little talk and suddenly everything is good again.. Well I for one will be disillusioned with the whole thing.. Its all bull****.. I'm writing in Ron Paul for the rest of my life.

Musk was writing on X that he agreed Trump should be impeached and replaced with Vice President JD Vance. He also warned that Trump’s tariffs would cause a recession in the second half of the year and asked his 220 million followers whether it was time to “create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle.”

He further signaled his estrangement from Trump’s orbit by “unfollowing” Stephen Miller, one of Trump’s top aides, whose wife has been working for Musk.

If it's true, then he gets what the others get. I don't believe it for a minute though, Elon is just high on special K and screwed up. Drugs will do that. Also, remember when Trump made the call on Epstein to the feds for messing with young women ? I do, and the feds gave Epstein a cushy sentence where he was mainly on house arrest. It might shake out after the dust settles some.

Entities with more power and more money than Elon have tried and failed to bury Trump. (Eg the entire Democrat establishment, all of their donors, the FBI and other letter agencies and Judicial system) Not an easy thing to do. Elon better have the evidence to back up what he said or he's cooked. I doubt that he does.

I don't like Trump personally. I just voted against democrat policy and will be forced to continue to do so as long as they embrace artificially increasing the cost of energy, raising taxes, paying people to not work, enabling hard drug use on the streets, promoting trans ideology, late term elective abortion, allowing non citizens to vote in our elections, open boarders, a path to citizenship with no punishment for the illegals... ect, ect, ect.

Damn Cuda, I agree with almost everything you just said.. I'm genuinely amazed... Are you sure your not a conservative?

Not so sure about taxing the wealthy even more.. They already pay virtually all of the tax.. Id support a flat tax. Everyone pays the same percentage and that's all there is to it. If we actually reduced spending we could all pay less tax. But its hard to get people to vote for reduced spending. People don't want to give up their gravy trains.

Elon sacrificed a LOT in order to start DOGE... and he convinced a bunch of very successful, smart people to also sacrifice time with their families & running their own businesses. I really don't blame him for feeling betrayed by the "big, beautiful bill".

However, I think the republicans are going to cut spending and codify the DOGE savings but not through the " reconciliation" process.

There's not much else they can do with such a slim majority and a couple RINO's that won't cooperate.

I'm kind of shocked that Trump fired back at Elon's outburst; he should have had a ceremony & given him a medal.
