That Tuff 34 is gorgeous. 135 in a v bottom is strollin. The sound alone of that 1100 is pure evil.

Jims Factory Billet Outerlimits running 184mph is F-ing insane....A Vee bottom running those speeds still pulling like a freight train....Unreal.

Factory Billet’s 184-MPH Lake Of The Ozarks Shootout Mic Drop

    Created: August 27, 2023
Written by Matt Trulio and Jason Johnson

Coming into the 35th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, Factory Billet driver/owner Jim Schultz and throttleman/engine-builder Mike Faucher had the lofty goal of reaching 170 mph at the end of the three-quarter-mile course on the Central Missouri waterway.
How lofty? It had never been done before.
No one involved saw Factory Billet’s 184-mph pass coming this morning at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, but there it is. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.
Suffice to say it’s been done now—and then some. In their first (and last) pass this morning, Schultz and Faucher reached an impressive 184 mph in their 51-foot Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats V-bottom powered by twin Faucher-built, turbocharged engines in the 2,000-plus-hp range.
How impressive? In the 35-year history of the event, even when the course was a full mile long, no V-bottom had ever approached that mark.
“In three-quarters-of-a-mile, we went almost four miles per hour faster than an Outerlimits SV 43 did in its kilometer record in 2014,” Schultz said. “The boat kept pulling so hard all the way through course, I couldn’t believe it.”
Today’s run was the perfect counterpoint to yesterday’s performance, which saw Factory Billet reach just 162 mph, four miles per hour shy of its finest Shootout run. An actuator glitch was the culprit.
Schultz (right) and Faucher overcame yesterday’s disappointment to lay down a record-setting run this morning.
“We’ve never made an incremental jump like this,” Schultz said. “Are you kidding me? From 166 to 184 mph? I mean typically we’re looking for two-, three- and-four-mph increments.”
Faucher and Schultz spent all day not just resolving the issue, but making sure everything else was ready to go today.
“I was telling Jim, ‘When we go out there, we almost have to go with more boost,’” said Faucher. “I mean we’re not going to go with less—that defeats the whole purpose of the recent things we’ve done to the boat. So it was awesome to adapt and change. To do what we did and go put down that number. I can’t ask for anything better to be honest.
“The dyno power is one thing, but you’ve got to make it all work to perform on the water in this environment,” he continued. “I could tell we did it when we had 200 or 300 feet on the track left. I knew it was going to be a good run because the boat was rolling.”
Back at the docks, Schultz was reeling from the accomplishment.
“Honest to god, I just wanted to see the 170 mph—I never expected this,” Schultz said. “The last time I looked down at the gauge, as we closed in on the finish, we were at 176 mph and I couldn’t believe it.
“This feels incredible,” he added, then chucked. “I guess we have to stick around for the awards now.”
The Factory Billet crew achieved something truly remarkable this morning.

Although the week leading up to the 35th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri was one of the warmest and muggiest events in recent memory, the rain came in droves on Saturday morning to wash away most of the sticky and lower the temperatures just enough to eliminate the level of heat that limits engine performance. The rain wasn’t necessarily a welcome sight for the vendors and teams set up at Captain Ron’s Bar and Grill, the host location for the charity-driven event presented by Performance Boat Center that continues to grow year in and year out, but the race teams didn’t mind the wet weather.
The American Ethanol Mystic broke its three-quarter-mile course record with a 214-mph top speed at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri. Photos by Pete Boden/Shoot 2 Thrill Pix
In fact, several teams went faster than they’ve ever gone before on the event’s three-quarter-mile course, including the reigning Top Gun, American Ethanol. On the team’s first pass of the day, driver Tony Battiato and throttleman John Cosker ran Don Onken’s four-engine, 51-foot Mystic Powerboats catamaran to a record-setting top speed of 214 mph. That mark was just three mph behind the team’s top speed of 217 mph on the previous one-mile course.
“We’re happy, very happy,” said a nonchalant Onken after the boat’s performance on Saturday. “We were working until the last minute on the boat so we weren’t sure what to expect.”
A Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Bob Morgan Memorial Hall of Fame member, Onken even cracked a smile when talking about hitting 214 mph, even though his preference is odd numbers so the team may or may not hit the course Sunday to try to top that.

Check out the slideshow above for more images from Saturday’s top-speed contest.
Another boat that is likely to try to best its top speed from Saturday is Dirty Duck, a super-powered Skater Powerboats catamaran owned by local performance boater Slug Hefner that was driven by Myrick Coil and Rusty Williams of Performance Boat Center. The boat, which is powered by twin 2,000-plus-hp engines from Brummett Marine, laid down an impressive 187-mph pass.
“The boat felt really good—it’s so powerful,” Coil said. “We were hoping for 180 today and we got 187, which was great, but I think we can get to 190.”
Dirty Duck was the second-fastest speed of the day as it was one mph than American Ethanol’s second run of 186 mph. The first fastest boat was another Skater, Team Yahoo. The Texas-based crew of Curtis Morris and Jamin Jones reached a top speed of 175 mph and is expected to try to top that today in their Skater powered by twin 2,000-plus-hp Boostpower USA engines.
The fastest V-bottom of the day was Dennis and Jason Parvey’s 46-foot Black Thunder, which tied the event’s all-time V-bottom record at 166 mph. The team it tied—Jim Schultz and Mike Faucher in the 51-foot Factory Billet Outerlimits—went 162 mph and has plans to run again today.
With a top speed of 135 mph, the fastest single-engine V-bottom of the day was the 36-foot Tuff Marine driven by the company’s Thomas Weigl. Built in Canada, the boat is powered by a single Mercury Racing 1,100-hp engine.

I heard it was hot there. Doesn't sound like that slowed the boats down to much.

For the most part, speeds were up on Sunday, probably some due to tuning changes and some due to reduced heat and humidity. The density altitude during the week and Saturday was ridiculous.
A problem is only a problem when viewed as a problem...

The best part about LOTO is we get to run with these guys around the lake have food and drink and great stories. If you have never gone it is the performance boat capitol and at least 45 bars pools and food stops .Miami was close in the 80s and 90s but nothing is even close these days

And the 36DW pass by Kory and Joe puts outboard boats way up the list. Would have loved to see a side by side run with 34 Tuff or Warrens 28 Skater.Neither can run in the rough with the 36

That's the plan. Going to be tough to best your record, but we will try!

Todd said one of his 24s is getting a 500,

Having to run in the open tunnel with that Big gearcase will be Interesting...

If Todd can build a solid boat at the weigh he predicts in C/F It Will be fast.

His plug looks bigger than a 24 ft

So why no small center pod to protect motor ?

JLanier , since Todd's mentor and Wicked is an offshoot of your design.

    Why not protect the motor?
