Allison Boats
I was just on the Allison website - no XS2003 or XR2001. Are they only building bass boats now ? Still no word on the "bigger" Grandsport ? Sad that era has basically ended - they were THE boat back in the day.

Yes, they are only building the bass boats now, they haven't made a Grand Sport in several years according to Nancy. Bill said because the 2.5's are getting harder to find, and the Grand Sport and River Racers don't handle the larger, heavier engines, they are not building them. They still have the molds, but the other parts are difficult to obtain, and they have lost their supply chain for them, therefore they couldn't build one now if they wanted to. Nancy said they are still looking at the larger Grand Sport, but I think that has been the thought for a lot of years now.

Hey Mike and wcarlyle- I just got the built 225x from Dave Driefort yesterday. He broke it in before I hauled the boat down there. It's making 250-260 hp by his estimation. No rev limiter. It climbed to 7000 rpm so fast it was scary. Still pulling hard but Dave took his foot out of it.
I'm wondering what prop you guys are running? The Hoss HPD 30 that Waldera was turning on the 280 is a little tall for where I can use the boat. I ordered a Drag 4 to start baseline experimenting.

Hey Trace, Dave is the man, he built my 225 Promax Powerhead, Brucato and SVS and it is one awesome motor. You did the right thing getting him to build yours, you won't be disappointed. I am running a 28 Drag 3 from Performance Propeller in Soddy Daisy Tn. Seems to be perfect for my boat so far.2016 Allison Grand Sport

Trace !!!
Glad you got it running ! Sounds like a great motor and it's on a fantastic boat !!!!!!
The Mazco RE3's in 28 or 30 pitch were a good prop back in the day - both for the 225 Promax's and the 260's, but that was twenty years ago. I always ran a Mercury Cleaver ( 3 Blade ) in 14 1/2 X 28 ? It's so long ago I can't exactly remember, but pretty sure it was a 28.
Plenty of guys on here have a ton of experience with Allisons and Allison Grandsports - maybe put a post up ( include pictures of course
) and see what these guys are running now ... I'm really not the one to ask.
Good luck and again, congratuations !!

I guess there's not enough demand to keep those other boats in production. Maybe Allison would make a new cap and put it on that big ass bass boat and make a new style GS?

It's a shame but not really unexpected. Where are the youngins to keep this sport alive? I have owned an xr01 and an xb02. Out of over a hundred boats I have owned these are the two I would like to have back. If I find another, I will die owning it.

I say it all the time, I need one of the light bass boats. So sick of climbing over the windshield on my hydrostreams! haha

At work we have 125 semi trucks delivering only boats, I think 9 manufacturers and I think the fleet will double in a few years as some of these manufacturers have some big plans that we cannot talk about. It amazes me how many boats they make each year for the US and Canada. It is truly mindboggling that they can sell this many boats each year.

strictly facebook heresay, but I thought I read in the allison group someone had a big motor on an allison and it done rolled over and resulted in a lawsuit and the allison's said no more little boats
wouldn't surprise me.
Little boats are dead, they got killed with the 2 stroke. You need a bigger boat to float the four stroke, now the little boat is an even more miserable ride, so you spend 3 times as much on the boat, and 3 times as much on the fuel, to give off better emissions.
It makes sense. (no)

I still have three. An SS, an XB Comp Pro, and an XTB 21.
That big GS is a myth. Just buy a Tuff 24 and be done with it. I gave up on Allison long time ago. Nice thought but rec boats won't bring the money in that the bass boats will... Unless it is a wake board wave maker.
