    Awesome rigging job, NOT!!!

I am rerigging a new Liberator 22 that acustomer just bought from another dealer (NOT TEXAS). They've been in bussiness over 20 years! Check out this rig job. This is exactly how he picked up his BRAND NEW boat. I have to completely gut and rewire and rerig the entire boat. Almost every wire under the dash was red! Try chasing down issues with that!. Battery for stereo was not hooked to anything to recharge it. Run the battery down and you have to take it home to recharge it. Offshore trim pump was bolted through the transom to the outside and under the waterline. Just a total mess! NO I'm not going to say who did it, but not me or Texas.

    Holy chit!

Thats disgusting, especially coming from a dealer.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Typical nowadays. The older established places, the owner no longer does the work. Nor do they check up and or review work done by the employees. Lowest paid does the work.

No pride in work done by both parties. One knows better, but to lazy to double check, the other thinks they know something, but does not realize, what to they do not know.

Other than a few old guys, that actually know something, and have some pride, knowledge & experience. You are better off doing the work yourself, if you want it done correctly. I have learned the hard way, jeeps, cars, boats motorcycles etc. I'm old, dam near kills me to get down & back up, lift etc, takes 4 days instead of 1. But the work gets done correctly.

Wildman, your kind of work is a rarity nowadays.

Good grief. What a chit show. Never heard of standardized marine wiring colors? EBay have a sale on red aluminum wire by the mile?

At least the owner is getting it corrected and has found a good man to do the rigging/wiring . Thats what is important . The mounting of a trim pump and drilling through the transom and below the water line was probably an indicator that its all gone bad .

I'll bet the owner paid good money for that job too, what a shame that some outfits take no pride in what they do.

    .

after the correction is made with the re-wiring, can pics be shared with the original maker so that they learn, for their future business I mean

if they reject the action, well then that's on them, but at least we tried to make corrective action

Thats the problem these days. Not enough true apprenticeships out there. Experienced guys retiring without passing on knowledge. And thats at no fault of their own most times. Many kids expect top pay day one when they don't know how to push a broom.(Yes, I worked with a guy who never pushed a broom before) And they're not willing to put in the time to learn a trade even though it will pay off in the long term.

A look into the issue of an instant gratification society.

Weld mount kits are your friend when doing a new rigging job. Using a screen and tying everything into NEMA instead of the old school gauges also cleans thing up dramatically. After doing several boats your expectations become much higher and the comment above about the lowest paid guy being the one that is told to "climb in there" is 100% accurate. You can't expect an employee to know what they have no exposure to but you can surely expect a dealer to check and correct the employees work before taking money from a customer.
