Living in the Florida Keys, when I race with Laser Ed our closest race is 600 miles away, so when you do a whole ODBA season when there were six races, it makes for a bunch of miles.

I wasn't towing, but I did roll home to Alabama from Reno, Nevada in a crawler on 40" tires. That was a wild scene haha
Trailered my coupe mustang from Alabama to Missouri. From there went to Maryland to pick up my WS6 and tow it back to Alabama. Treated it like a boat trailer tho. Fresh tires, fresh bearings and grease.

Drove from Edmonton Alberta Canada to Madison Wisconsin to buy my current boat on consignment there. The title was not with the boat, but at the sellers home in Kalispell Montana. So after a 1 1/2 drive to get to the boat, towed it from Wisconsin to Montana to pick up the title, then up through the border to Edmonton Alberta. Took 4 days to do the whole trip. Drove right past a number of historic or spectacular places without any time to stop and see them.

I put 9000 miles on my truck in the last 15 days chasing boats. The good part was that I had absolutely no issues-New Smyrna to Padre Island and back for the new DW28. Home for two days and then back on the road to 3 Lakes WI., left there and went across the upper peninsula of Michigan, back to Florida on Thursday and left for the Platka run on Friday and came home this morning. Home is feeling pretty good at this point...This love affair with boats makes us do some crazy stuff but its all fun in the end.

20,000 plus miles in one summer, towing one boat. Tow vehicle: Black Chevy Crew-Cab Dually, built 454, 100 gallon auxillary bed tank switchable from dash. Year: 1982. Same summer, 48 hour non-stop from Manhattan Beach, California to Fort Lauderdale, Florida...after just driving out there, from Lauderdale. Towing same boat/trailer. Very high average speed(and r.p.m.) for a dually with the standard 4:10 rear ratio. No citations, no weigh stations. This is what all the offshore race teams did then. A bit younger & brave.
