Would you drive that 170=180mph. I doubt it..

U less I’m missing something I saw video there of the boat running as as mentioned was leaving the traps at 171 to get the average speed for the kilo run?

and that was with a legal 2.5.

Put one of Matthews big motors on there or heck even one like Aaron’s 2.9 and it would have done more?

Yep... lookie at the sun rise.... I was told that was one of, or, the first short full throttle blasts. He got out of it before the power band and the tail popped .

One kilo in, one timed, one out.
    So three total.

Or 1.86 miles w/your foot on the floor and the motors done pullin.

Oh yeah, now turn around and repeat.
So a total of 3.72 mls of you praying your tune is correct, octane what you think, gauges accurate.
    Etc....

Make me sweat just thinking about it.

Plus it’s if your getting the speed you want on those two runs.
Seen boats do 15 or 20 passes trying get get everything set to get the speed. As long as the officials manning the timers let you do it you can keep trying. That’s how it was with APBA sanctioned kilo record attempts.
Can be very taxing on engines and gear. Also extremely hard for the engine builder! Watching pass after pass hoping that pass isn’t going to be the one that something fails.

I was just wondering if the in/out distances to the kilo were mandated, watching the Conniston runs they seem to have a pretty long entry/exit so I guess it's up to the organizers/officials and the waterway limitations.

They used to do some kneel down/hydro runs up here. As a young kid I remember going to watch them and it seems like 2/3 of the boats didn't make it out of the end of the course

If I am not mistaken you have to back up the record run with in 1 hour and it is a two way average.

    That is correct.

A true record, especially a Kilo is very, very hard to set. And back up.
Tons of one way records unable to be backed up.

Was a famous YouTube video of a 7 liter inboard making an attempt to back up initial pass that was a record, when the motor Nunez and you can hear mechanic on dock knowing what just happened, what's ahead and what they just spent.

    Hello,
I have been away for some time and have been having trouble getting up to speed on the record attempt. On some of the threads I noted a lot of bickering and pot shots and I am curious. At one point I found a you tube of a four pointer called 'Dragon" with an Evinrude on it that looked great. I faded away and now I can't make heads or tails of the whole thing. I see Spectre mentioned a number of times. Who is involved with all this and has any progress been made? Someone has got to take a shot at it sooner or later. Whats the problem? Money, time or cahones?

Yes, we have one and are working on it. Once there is something worth talking about, we will put up a post. Thanks
