It doesn't work that way. F1/champ boats are extrodinarily fickle when they reach their design limits.

I am not running away from anything. I believe in what I said. My statement may have been harsh but sometimes the truth hurts. I don't claim to know everything but I know what I know and I know what it takes to make an outrigger perform and the "twisted" boat has problems. You can see it in the videos. If you have something that proves otherwise-post it up-let's see it. This has gotten off topic and "screaming eagle" might not appreciate it but since the project is dead I guess it doesn't matter and with that said this thread no longer interest me.

Last words, This project was in it's infantile stage ,Monty was just getting a initial package together , those passes you saw were just the beginning , I'm surprised they were made public , because this is what happens, The choice of boat design was the Owner's decision for safety reasons not efficiency reasons, who has ever run a outboard outrigger boat let alone try something like this with one? Where do YOU start? like the builder said they had lots of ideas , changes that were talked about , trial and error is what it's all about, in a project like this. I was hoping someone would pickup this endeavor , Monty has been storing it, sure he will sell it cheap.
To get down on these folks for trying , really?

Would you drive that 170=180mph. I doubt it..
I know every serious tunnel boat builder out there. So who is this that has 35 years of building them and what class did you build them for??

Anybody gotz a "Bama blue wrench" I kin barraw …?????

Cuz even though I'm a beat up old man . I'd still rather be involved in racing and High performance equipment , than pop up on a web site and after a tenure of a few months , pass judgment on the efforts of other based on a few videos they themselves posted .

Now , if ya want ah start again , Id be willin ta trade ya a fresh canoli for some fat-back … !

If you use your imagination it`s easy to see how a guy can watch these RC videos and think about ways to transfer the design to a large boat like Twisted.

With the RC boats, do you realize the HP to weight ratio? What the top end would be to scale?

The time traps are 1 kilometer or approx 5/8 mile.

The lead in entrance and exit to the timed markers will vary by the location of the run.
Want to have enough distance to get up to speed before hitting the timers and then enough for shut down. Then turn around to run the other direction to back up the speed run. It’s the average of the two runs that sets the speed.

I can’t imagine how much would be going on running for another 20 seconds longer than this short pass. Lots of planning and testing, I’m sure.

Here’s what 20 mph slower than what we’re talking about attempting looks like in a boat more than double in length and 3300 HP.

A problem is only a problem when viewed as a problem...
