pacific gravity test doesn't lie.theres a few people that failed that really doesnt want this can of worms opened.several of yall that dont race are jumping on the band wagon trying to make ODBA/sunoco look at fault and there not.to many people passed for there to be a issue with ODBA/sunocos part.there are cheater fuels out there and mixtures of chemicals that u can buy that aren't supposed to fail the fuel test but guess what they did.the guy doing the fuel test is more talented with fuels then most (if any) of yall posting about this.everyone needs to quit crying and face the facts whether ur tank wasnt cleaned properly or u dumped something in ur tank or a bird with chemicals crapped in it u FAILED period.theres noone to blame but urself because the people that took the correct precautions passed and went on about there business just like they should.i cant wait till someone has the ba..s to step up and say i cheated and that i got caught and im sorry.then theres going to be a bunch of people say oh sh.t what do we talk about now.im not calling all 8 a cheater nor calling anyone out but theres 8 that failed for a reason.odba doesnt need this our playground is already small enough and if u dont like fuel testing come run pro drag or unlimited

Having been involved in a fuel and weight racing class before in national event setting . More times than not , they would wave everybody past the fuel check and weigh everyone after the first qualifying run . Second run they would check both . You had to claim what fuel you were running on your tech card . When you would pull up , if you had a petcock on the regulator , you open it , turn the pump on till they had an adequate sample . If not , they put a long tygon hose in your gas tank , put their thumb over the end and go pour it in a beaker , drop in a hydrometer , cross reference your fuel , tech card and their book and send you on your way . They would only check you after the third shot if you improved your position in the field. After that , you were done , unless you were protested .
Pretty dumb to take samples , leave em on a table with your name on em , then "test them later" at their discretion , without you present . Actually it should never leave your sight . If they didn't funnel every racer thru a tech area and test it then and there , then it's a bogus claim ... at least in my eye's .
Bud , that meter sounds like a real POS ... swirl the air bubbles out .. blow out the plates between samples .. low battery gives erroneous reading ... oil tends to move the meter ..... Pffttttttttttt

Any racer who ate some of Uncle Buds gumbo , and flatulated anywhere near their fuel vent , could have fallen victim to it lingering effect , and should have had their fuel checked again in one hour ....

Nobody's name is on the sample jar. This is what I'm talking about with people commenting that don't know how things work. The jars have a number on them. They are tested right there at the race site as soon as the tech's can do it, not at a random time later on

Ok, let me re iterate myself...... BRAND NEW TANK, NEW FUEL FILTER the only gas we bought and ran through it the whole weekend was the 112. ran 4 gallons friday, 2 on saturday and 2 sunday. I am going to point to the testing equipment or procedures, Not the fuel truck. nobody tampered with my fuel as myself or my wife was by the boat 24/7 and even stayed in Alabama away from everyone else because of tampering reasons....

Jesus F'ing Christ......between comments from people who only attend ONE ODBA race a year, people who have NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THE CLASSES AFFECTED, and completely horrible grammar/spelling, this thread is enough to make your head spin. Reaffirming why I can't take S&F hardly at all anymore.

fuel testing was done in a roped off area around 15x15 feet with a secured table for testing and anyone is able to watch fuel testing if they want to.every racer knows there number and if they chose to watch they can.theres nothing to hide

Okay guys, Here it is. One time only!! As the Official Fuel ,Motor, & Safety Inspector for the ODBA. We get a sample from the Fuel Truck each day & test it with different ratios of oil to set our baseline for Digitron Meter & Specific Gravity. Anyone who falls outside that window is ILLEGAL. Case Closed !! All 8 Racers Failed Both Tests. Some more so than others. Mike Clemmons

Mike can i get my numbers?? i have a friend who works at Flint Hills Refinery up here in Wisconsin and he said he will gladly test the gravity of our fuel. So if you would like to pm me those baseline numbers along with my failing numbers that would be great.

Been around this horn more than twice and been caught out on it and understand why! Just because you have a new tank and filter that you're so proud of did you think it may have contamination from the manufacturing process. How many times did you fill it and flush the complete system. Should have been a minimum of twice. And I don't mean splash a gallon in it and pump it out. After flushing the system did you change the paper element and flush it 1 more time? The same goes for the containers you used. Did you get a sample pulled and tested before you went into the water Sat. & Sun. Tech will be more than happy to do that. The man helping Mike do the fuel testing is more knowledgeable about fuels and testing than 1/2 the Phd petroleum eng's. (maybe slight exaggeration but not much) besides being an absolutely meticulous technician. If you got tossed there is a reason, it's up to you to find it not ODBA.

Listen...you're not the first person to fail fuel tech and not know exactly why. The idea that everyone who fails is labeled a cheater is ridiculous. I think most guys who race on a regular basis realize that more times than not, people fail because they didn't flush properly, failed to change a paper filter, had foam in their tank or other things unintentional. Having said that, there is occasionally someone who thinks they're a chemist and can get away with something.
In your case I see where you said you had a new tank, filter etc but........
Did you flush out your system and discard all the fuel that came out? Even with new tank & filter there is still old fuel in your pump, regulator, rail, hose, injectors, etc.
