3rd time on the water today..finally took her for a long shakedown run. Ran from Burt Reynolds Park to the St Lucie Manatee Pocket up the intercoastal waterway and took the ocean back to Jupiter Inlet. It was rough on the way home...3-5' snotty SE windswell!!! The old Mate handled the water better than my old body!! lol Here's a picture my buddy shot while along side us:

Here's a quick cell phone video leaving the Manatee pocket and fight all the cross wake traffic heading out the inlet.

Just got some 26 pitch Merc Choppers for the 2800. They're worked by DAH. Hopefull I'll get a chance to try them this sunday. Have to replace some motor mounts with solid mounts on the port motor first along with the cradles. Here's the first running picture of the 2800 shot by my friend who was running alongside me last sunday while cruising up the intercoastal waterway in Hobe Sound.

Great looking ride. Timeless lines and to the "low informaton" boater, it looks new!
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

Ran a set of 26 pitch DAH Choppers last sunday and yielded 71.11 MPH GPS @ 6000 rpm on the right hand motor and 5800 rpm on the counter rotating motor. That was with 96 gallons of gas, two adults and gear. With some reeds, light on gas, one person and some more seat time I bet I could get 75 MPH..not bad for a couple fishing motors!!

I used internal trim mids to eliminate the pumps and hoses in the boat. Keep the thread going with updates and pictures!
Do you remember how much setback you had on the bracket?

Boat is really looking good. What is your top speed on it so far? Do you have any pictures of the engines & bracket assembly out of the water. I am trying to get some ideas on my new project, redoing a 24' Jaws. Thanks,

Craig, I'm running 24" setback old school Gil Marine Raing brackets. Motors are at 18" centers, 25" midsections, stock 2.4L 200's, DAH 26 choppers. I've GPS at 71+ MPH so far with the stock powerheads. I found one picture from when I was rigging the boat and mounted the 1st motor on the Gil Bracket. The other picture shows both motors while at the boat ramp.

Well, it's been a long time since I started this thread so I thought it's a good time for an update. I sold the twin 2.4L Mercs and picked up a pair of counter rotating 25" Mercury 2.5L motors from a fishing boat. With as much time as I spend in the salt water I decided to move away from the light weight 260 style cowls (which always seem to allow water in) and use the Mercury factory Offshore cowls that came with the motors (They look brand new!) In order to use the Offshore cowls I have to spread the motors out from the 18" centers that I've been running (this will also help dockside handling) to 24" centers (which will also enable me use Mercury 3.0L motors in the future). I'm currently fabbing up a 7/8" thick T6061 slab of aluminum that will mount to my Gill brackets in order to spread the motors. I'm also going to use Mercury 2 hole CLE gearcases instead of the Bob's coned lowers (tired of the epoxy falling off). With the new bracket I'll have the ability to raise my motors as much as 3" above the bottom. (with the old setup I was maxed out with prop shafts dead even to the bottom at 24" of setback. I hoping to eek out a few more miles per hour with the new setup!!
Here's a couple early mock up pics of the bracket.
