Came across this and it's a goodie. I might be a little biased but, this is an absolutely perfectly set up king. Motorheads a member here....

Awesome rig! I’ve watched every video on YouTube with hydrostream tagged in it. That second one I have some knowledge of the boat he was running a real 2.5L 300 drag on that thing. Eddie P had a rocket ship Vking he posted a bunch of vids. He runs 110 here

Fun, in our little group we are all lifers. And yes, that is the bishop! These dang fast boats won't let you walk away easily. It's a rush, a personal challenge and an adrenaline junkie kind of thing all rolled into one. Lake, Eddie P had a rocket ship that's for sure. I study the motion of the steering wheel corrections in the vids. You can tell it's all second nature to these guys.

Ya for sure the seat time brings the feel for it. I’m not on those guys level yet but I have improved so much the past couple years.as long as the water isn’t too rough I can run floored as long as I want. I do roll back a little if there’s even small chop though. Not because I can’t drive it there it’s because at those speeds 90+ I can’t see real waves as well and a couple times I’ve hit those at some serious speed and almost had an event. So now I just cruise around 80-85 seems to be the sweet spot. There’s still lots of hull in the water at those speeds and I run the jack down about a half inch or so below pad in the rougher days. Makes a big difference in stability and safety overall. I’m not out to win any races so I’ll gladly dial it down a little when the conditions are not perfect.

You’re 100% spot on with your comments on it being a rush. It takes hyper focus at those speeds to read everything going on and react properly. There really is no comparables to the experience it is truly awesome!

    Cool

i belive driving an Action is pretty similar , have a copy of a 18' Donzi built by the boys at Scarab back in the day for my next ( small ) ride , got to where to go boating with the 19' Action we would go to central fla lakes ( wind will blow up around here and all you can do is barely get on plane to get back home ) only ran the Donzi 1 time in the ICW w/2' chop rollin straight on the head , trimmed up where I like it ,nailed it ,,, like walking barefoot on shag carpet , I was a believer finishing her out as a sitdown center steer w/foot throttle , no deck just walkwround as the saying goes " sit down , shut up , and hang on "

Health sidelined me for a spell but I'm BACK and broke , still have everything but the Action and back to 500 mi a day truckin but intend to get the loose ends tied up just as soon as I am able , just like Rocky Racoon Fun Out

God Damn , What the hell happened there ? did he dump the throttle and it hooked ? motor quit ? he wasn't even on it hard ? Son of a Bitch , no thank you . guy here in a circle race hit a cross wake and his nose dropped down and followed the wake and ran over the guy next to him and killed him . sorry to say but Streams will do that , I don't like how an Allison drops eather , maby my style of driving keeps my Action nose high or maby I've just been lucky , who knows , that was so sudden I'm not sure .

If I remember right something in the steering broke. Maybe the bolt in the tiller bracket sheered? RR

That’s what I read too the steering bolt snapped. Good reminder to replace with fresh ARP. Many guys do this every year. Your entire life is in the hands of one 3/8” bolt. The older V6 motors tiller arms are also very thin compared to the later year ones so if anyone out there reads this you want the new tiller arm and make sure you use the ARP stainless bolt too.

Important to have your steering torque as low as it can be too.

    Rookie here with a question?

Has anyone tried slightly dulling or radiusing (rounding) the leading edge of the skeg?

Sharp edges tend to want to hunt for position whereas rounded is smoother or more stable.
