I may have posted this before.
Mr. Jon Wright (RIP) world OB Drag record holder making a pass at the Rumble.
He set the record w/a 2.5 Merc,
then got bored.
He decided that he could not only be competitive w/an OMC but thought he could up his own record w/a JohnRude.
I told him everything I knew and sold him this bock to carve up.
He was deep into this when he suddenly died durring a medical procedure.
Was an amazing man.
Was running a mechanical EFI system on that motor from an airplane!
I have a pic somewhere.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I was just made aware that the greatest boat racer ever, Billy Seebold left us yesterday. Very sad news indeed.

The greatest boat racer and friend have left us.
You could not find a nicer person than Mr. Bill.
I was in Paris 1974 when he won the Paris 6 Hour race.
Later we became friends and Mr. Bill invited me to Lake of the Ozarks.
Buddy Bass fishing tournament at Lake Truman, Evening parties at Grants Farm in St. Louis, Mr. Bills famous race in Fenton Mo
and parties in Naples Fl. etc etc
I am so grateful for his friendship.
Mr. Bill is always going to be in Carina's & my memories as the the Greatest of all time.
A mix of my own pictures/memories over the years.
Our condolences to the Seebold family.

First met Bill when I was 14 in 1986. I'll have to go to my dads house and get my photo albums. Never missed the races in Bay City and have hundreds if not more pics from all the years. The Seebold crew was amazing from when I was a little punk, up until my last pic with him in 2019. That's for another thread. Godspeed Mr Bill.

I met him at the Pittsburgh race a 100 yrs ago.
My buddy was on a pit crew on an Indy car team Bill was at one of their races and wanted a close up of the cars.
My buddy didn’t know him but gave him the red carpet treatment.
Bill offered him the same in exchange.
So we went to Pittsburgh!
Bill treated us like kings and my buddy was eating it up too.
Funniest part was, they had a bare block laying on a mat on the ground and I was trying to get a look at the ports when his pit boss saw me.
He rushed over and threw a blanket over the block and walked away w/o saying a word!
Bill was deep into it w/my buddy when he caught was going on.
W/o missing a beat, he smiled at me went right back into entertaining my buddy!
It of course sucks to have lost this legend but, after reading his book……….., he lived a life we could only dream of.
God speed sir!I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

At the last Bay City race in 2019 I think it was Friday practice I was going through the course during open river time in my Vector by the announcers stand. I had something rowdy on it, pretty sure I was running a 2.0 f1 powerhead at the time. I hear Bill talking over the PA about the boats going by and he says "Look at the silver boat, thats a great looking Glastron!" I stood up in the seat and circled right back to the seawall by the announcers stand, he recognized me about ten feet out and says "Oh boy, Now I'm in trouble!" "Hydrostream Dammmit!" We had a good laugh over it and talked a bit.
I go ferd for them over the years and was always down Thursday when everyone was setting up. I shot TONS of pics over the years. I'll get to rounding my albums up.Last edited by 108; 10-23-2025 at 07:42 PM.
