Lake & Bay Boca 20-450R
So this boat weighs 950lbs , 20ft long and is rated for 300HP. On the L&B website they are running a 450R. I am in talks with someone about putting a new V10 400R on my Blazer Bay 675. It is 22' and weighs 1800lbs. Has anyone on here driving a L&B or similar setup with a motor this size? I currently have a 300ProXS , weighing around 550lbs. The new 400R weighs 695. I can stand on my jackplate and the boat barely moves any in the water. I feel like the transom can support it just fine. Any input on the handling of a lighter boat with a larger motor? I think mine will be fine , but i dont see how the 950lb L&B can handle that 450R.

pay attention to the footage , don't think your goin to be going that fast in rough water or around corners.

Haha! I just watched that video. That ride looked like it was TERRIBLE!! Even on relatively smooth water that boat was rocking like crazy. But I dont think it was because of the 400. Im thinking even with a 300R at 80+, it wouldnt be that smooth with a boat that light. Impressive still tho.

I have been watching the L&B guys make high speed passes at our gatherings for years. To me, they look everything but safe but I have only been an observer. My guess is that the Blazer Bay will be much better suited but won't be as fast.

thats what happens in a V bottom , it requires you to drive , not ride

the more I think about it I don't recommend you try running a boat that fast , it's just not safe unless you've gradually worked up to it , as a matter of fact I can predict something will likely go wrong . Don't attempt it. Fun Out
