If you must, I was at All Marine here in Naples today talking to Frankie 239 253 6383, he sells new motors cheaper than most, he works on thin margins and buys motors cheaper than many dealers, because he pays Merc up front for everything and gets extra % off and passes on the discounts, He has low overhead, he can't list prices, you should call and compare $ before pulling the trigger, I know a offshore racer that gets a break from merc, as any true racer gets, Frankie just smoked Merc's racer price, not to piss off other dealers I can't repeat the price he told me for the new 300ROS 15inch, just saying give him a call, after you get your best price

Congratulations again, I'm glad to hear you didn't spray, because In my mind It's dangerous, greatly increasing your chances of catastrophe.

I didn't know Motec was involved with tuning on these motors...

There was a LOT of Motec systems running around LOTO that week. Had a chance to chat with Motec reps and Kong Performance at the street party. Some smart cookies. Things are moving in the right direction for the performance outboard crowd.

This is just the beginning. Things are going to be crazy next year if some of the plans come to reality. You will see guys running in the 9,000 rpm range-there are lots of parts getting built right now by people who make 3000 h.p. out of Toyota DOHC 3L 2JZ motors (lots of boost). I have been told that 1200 out of our 4.6 motors is easily achievable in a supercharged form but it will take some $ to make them strong enough to deal with the cylinder pressures that they will see. This is creating interest from people with money as a second or third boat with built up outboards. One of the guys showed up with six spare powerheads and cases along with his 1550 inboard cat. They know its a learning curve that requires breaking parts as things evolve. Mercury sure did give us an awesome platform to build from.

Slightly off topic (okay all the way), but can anyone think of a drag boat that would float a 450 with carbon cowls? A sub 1000lb hull with 800hp on spray and spins 9k could be rowdy. Possibly a light liberator... Okay I'm done now JPEROG just got me thinking

Have Jack make some side sponson extensions that extend the sponsons to help float the weight, for the STV or his T1 float the rear, flat step

Jack would be REALLY smart to build a 21ft version of the STV RR or T3. Have a race boat with a 4 stroke that could truly still run around a lake also. Hes got the best hulls to stretch a few ft. The 2 strokes will be running for cover.....Its coming.

Yes the STV is a true circle race boat made for a 2.5 I don't know how they can sell a 19 ft boat that doesn't meet USCG regs, flotation and motor restrictions, long, long ago I had a MVP version, I sold it to boat builder fiberglass man Frost up in Charlotte Harbor.

Yes he could add 2 inches of freeboard then strech two to three feet, I wouldn't mess with the bottom design, To me the STV and Allen Stokers design were the epitome of outboard hull designs, I myself like the Stoker pointed bow VS the pickle fork and the Stoker's a foot longer, and a deeper more freeboard design, Allen said he is still tweaking the bottom, Allen Is still kicking A$$ with his 22ft at Parker endurance race, It has to be 50 years of profession racing Knowledge, He's the TRUE GOAT of MVP type racing.

This is for the old guys, Before there was MVP there was VP outboard racing, everything was V bottoms, the last great boat being the Laser 380 Ray, anyhow there was a guy who was Champion that had an Alllison with 235 OMC for power, 1979 ish ? any old Powerboat mags left

What was his name, I used his motor builder, he did the race props for OMC racing and on the side, along with porting the blocks, on the side,

There are completed molds for the 22' Euro that Roark had designed and built for twin 280s. I had committed to buying one from him when I picked up my last new Euro in 95' but he never followed thru with the project due to the fear of cost when rigged and completed, liability, and the fact that he and his son were into the race cars so heavy at that time. Rumor has it that they are in Hendersonville in a guys garage. A new 500 with the MoTec would be an absolute weapon. I agree with Jim that a 22 Stoker would also be an incredible rig-I had a friend who had twin 260s on a 22' Stoker in the mid 90s and it did everything really well.

Joe, make some calls, I never heard this story before, Roark has to be around 80 by now, Lets get them In Todd's hands

The IBEX boat builders convention is Oct 7-9 at the Tampa Convention center

    ibexshow.com

I just called Wally Lambkin and got mail box is full, so I texted him about this subject, I haven't been to his shop in 15 or more years, but I know he had a similar project in mind, He was one of may Favorite people, Knowledgeable, down to earth, a true Craftsman at anything he touched, I remember talking to him at Jasper last, a little of him would die every time one of his DR20s would flip in a race, That's why his boats had the Safety Capsule, he really cared about drivers safety,

You should be really smart and bankroll a dozen of them. Be the northern distributer for that model. Could call it the "pork chop Jr" ...

Chaz = wunderin, did a two stroke crack ya @ the drags .. recently ?
Thats twice ya said something derogatory in a couple days.
You do realize that haven't built the 300x in 20 years ...right ???
    Don't say it was a lil-ole 2.5 that spanked yur supercharged 4.6L ..

BTW .. Ifin ya took an online class like EFI University, they would teach you how to read schematics and crimp wires. That way you could buy a $2000 ECU , install it yourself and save $4000+ dollars. But then you'd be a King not Kong ..

So talking to Wally yesterday he's in Texas, health Issues, he's as sharp as ever, but like many of us old timers, health Issues galore, he said he's been Battling for 8 years now,
Anyhow, Mr Lamkin still has a plug he started long ago, when he gets home next week he'll send me some pictures, He said no way will he finish it, so we'll see.. he said it's 22 ft., I like working on plugs, more than building, a much slower process.
As far as Roark Summerford's project boat goes, he offered the molds to Wally a while back, cheap, but Wally was going in another direction and didn't have any Interest, so he passed and Roark said he only trusted Wally and said he was going to burn them ?
Roark was done with boats, worried about Liability and playing with cars instead, working with fiberglass is nasty, no way around that.
I asked Wally to contact Summerford next week when he gets home to see what happened to them, he said the deck looked like a big River Rocket, I'm trying to get him to meet me at IBEX, said he wants to go, but at this point he' has no Idea what the doctors plans are. One of the opitions they are talking about will have him layed up for 5 months, don't get old, It's very painful
I'm trying to get Todd DeFilipps from Wicked powerboats interested, my back and neck is full of arthritis, probably from my crash in 84, I hit the water upside down backwards, I ended up 6 to 8 feet underwater, cracking the dash with my bare chest, Mind is willing, body is not, I get my new CAT scan results Monday, Degenerative disc's, I've had back surgery, crushed vertebra glued together, ACL replacement...
About 6 years ago I rolled a RZR , hospital bill came to $145,000 for two days in Ocala's trauma center, they wrapped the little bones in my hand with wire to put hold them in place, then covered the area with the same type of cloth used on burn victims, skin ripped off in a single sheet, and was stuck to the roll bar, for a nano second I looked inside my hand like out of a movie, the skin on top of my left hand is from the top of my left leg, that was another operation, about 6 weeks later, The state of shock is a wonderful thing, you feel NOTHING , till hours later.

Are these systems piggybacking the OE, or are they standalone replacements for the OE electrics? Some of the motorcycle piggyback systems I deal with now are freaking amazing. I'd expect no less from Motec.
