The hull is lifted up on the hydrofoils by electric motors. Also, the electric motor's blades push air-faster over the wings top-surface to get extra wing lift. Resulting in more wing lift at slower boat speeds.

Putting on my captain obvious, hat: If there's any commercial viability, it will be MUCH more easily attained with a lighter, denser energy source such as a petrol fuel. Unless (as usual with these things) there is massive subsidy.

My admiration for men like Mr. K, is the thousands of Jobs he established -- in manufacturing, dealer network, and test/racing facilities like Lake X.

I, my dad, uncle and many like you have benefited from earning a paycheck (some a career) from/with the success of Mercury Marine.

Bob Teague was chief test evaluator & driver and technical editor for the prominent Powerboat Magazine.

HOF, Bob is an engine builder and racer in Grand National endurance boats and offshore boats and, raced as throttle-man with legendary Bob Nordskog.

In the 1970s & 80's, I personally enjoyed reading Powerboat Magazine. A magazine about performance pleasure boats (quality production and speed trials) and it also reported on Boat Races.
