    New Kilo Hydroplane

We (http://princetonelectricspeedboating.com) just received our Black Sheep Racing (BSR) hydroplane and are working to rig it with our custom 5.5" outboard frame and the electric powertrain before it goes back down to BSR to get the carbon decks installed.

The new boat will make 300+ hp and should weight <1200 lbs with the driver. We are excited to raise the electric kilo record far above the 114.20 mph number we set at the end of 2023!!

Here are some pictures of the hull on our custom CTS Trailer tilt trailer. Enjoy!

Is the hull design for oval racing or specifically for top end. Good luck.

Hey David, Thanks! It's built specifically for top end. The cockpit is centered in the boat and the sponsons/tunnel shape is designed to be best in a straight line. It will still run well on an oval but best for a kilo

Thanks Rock, we are really happy with how it is shaping up. It'll certainly be different from most everything currently out there.

Thanks John. For the data logging and power distribution we are using an AiM PDM and digital display. The high voltage battery pack is custom built by Danecca limited out of the UK. The motor controller is the Scott Drive SD500 from New Zealand. Lastly the electric motor is from Flux Marine.

Battery: ~450 lbs, 712 volts nominal, capable of 300+ hp
    Motor controller: 35 lbs
Motor: 65 lbs, peak power 7500-10,000 rpm

Here is a photo of the battery pack and the CAD for the dash.

Mock up of the rear cowling that go from the back of the cockpit and fully enclose the outboard motor. With the electric motor being so small combined with our short midsection we can get very creative with the design of the cowling. Looking to optimize the aero of the boat as much as possible. Working on making the mold now and should have the finished carbon cowling in a couple of weeks. More to come soon.

The current boat ran 121 mph making 182 hp and was not maxed out when we snapped the prop shaft at the record event in Oct of 2023. Target for this boat is 150 mph. The electric powertrain is designed to make 300+ hp. Time will tell this summer as we begin testing and tuning. We just ordered some big pitch Dewald wheels for the SSM4 gear case and we are very excited to see how they compare to existing SSM4 kilo props.

No this is a Merc #4 SSM. Power level is closer to what the #4 is built for and more parts and support available.
