how many can you remember
After the "favorite boat" thread I started thinking about all the boats I have owned. I am 71 so I have had the opportunity to own several. I have also been blessed to have a business that allowed me to pursue this hobby to the extent I have. Never been into the big performance stuff cuz it was out of my price range. I have owned aluminum, wood, and glass. Mostly outboards but a couple IOs and a jet. Almost all Mercs but a few Chryslers and OMCs. Ranged from the largest at 33' Carver to the shortest a 10' jon. I was able to remember a little over 40 of them but I am sure I missed a few. Am I the only one to spend his money this foolishly?

Foolish? One time I bought a boat on eBay without telling my wife. She had been out of town at a conference and when she got home she asked where that new boat came from. I acted dumb (not a stretch for me) and asked “what boat?” She says “the red one with the yellow flames, it’s hard to miss”. I come back with “oh that boat, surprise, I bought you your own boat.” I was triple stupid that day.

32 Hydrosteams?, recored and sold. 5 I kept around 2 Vipers, Vector, HST and a Vixen, 1 Checkmate, 2 12 foot MirroCrafts, a Glasspar 14, Starcraft 15 foot and the Aquarius, 2 8 foot Kays and a Lamb Champ boat. Hundreds of motors.
I'd be retired with an umbrella drink somewhere if not for boats, but what fun is that.

My favorite boat/wife story is that of a dentist who took his 17' boat to the local boat factory to see about having it restored. With the cost of a new transom, floor, core, upholstery, he thought he might as well buy a new boat. Except his wife said no new boat. So he ordered a 19' version of the same boat and tells his wife that he is just getting the old boat 'painted'. His older son was in on the scam, but his younger son was not. To my knowledge she never knew.
I have had whole or part ownership of 'just' 6 boats, and my 2 favorites are in my garage today.

I have had 12 boats that were mine. Then 4 more that were actually dads, but I used them like they were mine.

I am finally at the point where she isn't even surprised, pissed, happy, mad, or sad when a new floater shows up. I think that is called "numb to the situation". It has been a somewhat painful journey but is seems that now the road is actually paved for freedom lol-

I currently own 6. Think I've owned 14 in total. Not sure if that's a good ratio or not? My wife has pretty much lost track of the
current stable. That's definitely a good thing.Bullet CC w/ 225 Promax - Sold

I once bought a Cole runner bottom with a blown 427 chevy big block. Wife went ballistic and needless to say I never took possession of it.

22 boats so far unless you count a sold one you bought back years later as 2, then it would be 23

I was just thinking about another boat I had when I was a kid. My father's family always had boats. When me and my brother were infants my mother made my father get rid of his boat. But we had a pretty big pool. We had those little blow up pool boats that had oar locks. When we were around 8 or 10, When my parents were at work, we used to strap them to the milk crate basket on our bikes and ride them down to the duck pond or the docks and paddle them around the bay. When my parents found out, Mom freaked out. They got in a big fight. Not long after, Dad brought home the 17' Winner I/O.
