Why are there no new 2.5 260/280 blocks in production.

A few years back someone was working on building these block again, what ever happened?

The CRT engine was an extremely ambitious venture that I think defied a lot of expectations that it would never happen. I think making that engine a reality was an enormous achievement. Very unfortunate about the events that transpired that put an end to it, most especially what happened to Caldwell. As far as I know a few of these CRT engines are competing in outboard drags, and I'd be interested in knowing more about how competitive they are.

I believe heat dissipation with a billet vs. cast block was an issue!

He was on the right path with it, always enjoyed the conversations we had at Jasper, brief as they were.

The few times that I saw one run it wasn’t competitive. I also think it was hard to stomach spending mucho dinero on a rig that would get trounced by a backyard built merc! The guy that spends 100x more expects to dominate his competitors instead of the other way around…

There was also an Italian made cast 2.5 race block but it got squashed for some reason.

the old it’s not the parts that makes a mota it’s the brains that builds it method is sure tough to beat. Smokey Yunick style. Whoop em with a lawn mower motor if he had to. Smokey qualified a sbc at Indianapolis 500 once iirc. Of course they banned him and his car, again. It’s always the smart guys that get banned from racing and the money guys who make the rules suit their builds. Same old story
