Post pics of your boat, giveaway thread

Earlier this year Greg started a thread where he requested photos of our boats to enter a giveaway contest. According to his rules the ten photos with the most "Likes" would be eligible to be voted on by the membership to determine a winner, who would receive a prize. Greg described this prize thusly, and I paraphrase because the thread is no longer available for viewing ........ "I'm not saying what the prize is right now but it's something you'll really like."

Many photos were submitted with lots of participation. Greg closed the submissions with the statement that he would choose the top ten and begin the final voting soon. This was several months ago. Since then Greg has started another giveaway thread, and successfully completed it, by announcing the winner of the FirePad. That prompted me to wonder ........ what happened to the older contest? Requests were made by Greg, many photos were submitted, a promise came from Greg, then it died. I asked Greg later if the next move by him would be announced on the same thread or on another. Greg replied "On this thread".

My question is, what happened, Greg? Was there an issue with how the giveaway was conducted that you realized later and had to stop it? Did someone do something to get you upset? What happened? The thread is so old it is now unavailable for viewing. Before it "expired" I even asked "Is this thread dead?", with no reply. This is your chance to explain. It's your site and you can do with it as you please, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. But, something's strange here, and out of context for how you ordinarily run this fine site.
