Help!! What is the Easiest Way to Get 3M 4200 Sealant to Release??

I used 3M 4200 sealant when re-installed my low water pick ups on my Cougar after having them powder coated purple. I think they need to go a little lower as I am not getting the water pressure I should be getting. I stuck them on really well and I can't get them to release from the hull. Is there a method to soften the sealant up, so that I can break them free?? I tried using a heat gun but that didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated as the ice is out of the lake and the boat is not ready to go.
    Thanks
    Gary

Be very careful, you can pull gel cote off. Don't ask me how I know! If the is any gap @ any corner try some of that man'killer braided line the bass guys use use. tie a piece 16" long on 2 handles start it @ a corner and saw it off. The line will cut your fingers. Good Luck!

LPS Zero-tri does a good job but it’s about $20/can

I’m used to using it on crankcase gasket surface, and it needs penetration, so in your application it might be tough as you’re only working the edge.

Steady pressure is better than impacts. The more you can pry and wedge without damage is your best bet.

”Chisel” spray gasket remover might work too.

Wow! That is some good info right there. I'm going to change my jack plate this month, so I will try that. Thanks

Man, they look deeper in the water than any I've ever seen... before you go through all the trouble, are you there's not another problem?

Goof Off is the best product I’ve found for removing old glues and adhesives of any kind. Not harsh on the gel coat either. Might take some time for it to work it’s way under all that metal, though.

30 years ago, I bought an Action with a 260 on a jack plate, I took the bolts out and jerked on the LU and she refused to move

The guy worked as an aircraft mechanic. He said it's what they use on planes. I used a propane torch to make it let go cleanly.

But I had all that weight just being held on by a 3M product I imagine.

I like this option but I checked with my local marine store and they are not able to get it anymore. Do you know of a source to find it that will ship to Canada? I do have 3M adhesive remover now but I haven't tried it yet. Thoughts??
    Thanks
    Gary
