    Tom,
I will try and make it for the river runs on Saturday if the weather is good. Seeya!

I thought I was dead-in-the-water for the Suwannee outing on Friday when I entered Lake George [going to Silver Glenn Spring] at almost 80MPH and hit a 4' tall rouge wave. The impact was horrific and I am surprised my new Liver transplant is still intact. The engine sputtered and then tried to die when I hit the trim. I guessed that I had lost the battery and was only operating on alternator power. I tried the trim again and stalled the engine, which would not recrank. Since I was at the entrance to Lake George I then realized the winds were gusting 20-25 knots from the East with waves crashing into my rear battery compartment when I tried to open it, so much for the wind forecast of 5-10 knots. I had to let the wind carry me to a nearby island where I could spin the bow into the wind. I was able to discover that the impact had exploded my Guest battery disconnect switch. Working in terrible conditions I was able to dismount the rest of the switch and combine the battery and load side of the terminals giving me power again and able to use the bilge pump. I did make it to the Springs and got a new battery switch today so I can go to the Suwannee. This is not my Brightest moments.....

Super human, Allison driving, bat turning machine! Surprised a mere 4 footer & minor mechanical setback for a pilot of your stature even rattled you enough to post your experience but glad you did. I live vicariously. Carry on captain. RR

I found out from one of the tournament bassers at my church this morning that later after my crash, a basser soon after hit another wave at the same spot and his boat landed upside down. That is freaky....

Glad you are okay Jr. Making that run for 35 years, I am well aware of what a beast that lake can be.
