    Wrinkle finish lower

Ive used wrinkle finish spray with great results. the temp of the surface has a huge effect on the final finish. the higher the temp the tighter and harder the finish using a heat gun, while wet, gives a rpck hard wrinkle. i am thinking about doing my newly coned lower unit.. i know it will hold up, ??heard it might REDUCE drag. it sure would look cool. what u guys think?

When I was racing kneel down OB Hydros the common consensus was that sharks were the fastest creatures in water and their skin was very porous/rough.

    Never saw it tested though.

    Try it!

My guess is, if your boat is fast enough, it will cause turbulence and then cavitation.

But, like I always do, I ask all the experts then do it anyhow!

I am probably 8/6 of right Vs wrong.

    Try it!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

it only becomes effective when your breaking surface tension, a case that's already running in chopped surface likely won't see any benefit! put your golfball finish on the running surface of the pad!

That is where aeration does the most good.

I remember someone in Canada set a speed record in a Allison, 20 some years ago

and they used a version of the golf ball surface on the pad area.

I know some that blunt the nose cone area

Wrinkle finish on a gearcase is good for at least 12 MPH.

    On a 250 mph boat.

In the Tunnelboat Simulator my boat has about 1sf of "wetted" hull surface... and above 100 mph it's basically 0.

Putting dimples on your helmet would probably be more effective.

Titus (or Tooter? ) used to leave the submerged part of the lower in primer rather than smooth gloss paint... but I can't find a picture right now.
