It has been my experience that the bigger the boat the higher the deadrise. My 16' Ebbtide Campione had an 18-degree deadrise. My 17 Checkmate has a 20-degree deadrise and my 21 Superboat legend had a 21-degree deadrise.
The higher the deadrise the smoother the ride. The lower the deadrise the faster the boat. Fishing boats usually have a higher deadrise than a boat built for speed.

    My question remains ....

Has anyone (besides myself) that are throwing these numbers around, actually taken the time to measure any of these hulls for yourself.

I suspect you are the only one. You probably measure everything.

...i have. mostly 21' & up. its part of what you do, when your in the business. lots of new larger hull/deck designs & tooling aka plugs & molds. uncountable chicago trade shows(IMTEC), jacob javits center shows, ,miami & bahia mar international shows, orlando, california, etc. decades of yearly offshore race location involvement. enjoyed it all...until i didn't...... mostly miss all the great people in the business...

As a fabricator, chassis builder, machinist .. it's somewhat in my nature to do so.
I've seen rear engine dragsters .. that I respected, put up on my table .. slide a bar thru the rear housing and my uprites. Walk twenty feet forward and see the centerline of the frame .. a good six inch's over to one side of center. Ya think it handled funny ..
I'm still waiting for you to tell us what the section of the hull from the bow eye to the deck's front cleat influences cutting thru the water ... Just tell us ya bumped yur head when ya wrote that ... and I'll never mention it again !

The newer molds built from foam CNC cut plugs .. I would have to say are pretty much on the money.
The old Mi-hami days of splash from a splash in 100* heat ... not so much. No matter how many glitzy bling shows you go to, the "plant" looks like a well used body shop.
Very few that I have been thru .. have had "finer tools of measurement". They must keep them hidden ..

I have to say ... every time I see a mold being supported by a structure as archaically hacked up as this one ... I kind of throw up in my mouth a little.
Hard to believe that mold stay's any semblance straight once the resin starts to kick.

I don't doubt off center front end works on a dragster.

I can't tell you why it works. i learn by doing. I've stuck a few bows in to seas. Some break the boat. There are plenty of videos of decks pealing off. None of them are Fountains.

A frame being off centerline means it looks like a snake .. staggered wheelbase is another thing entirely.

If trippin the transom and stuffin the nose is your drivin style .. more power to ya ..
