For me .. my application, a pair of 300x motors is all I need .. or want.
Pleannnnnnnnty of sparez tooo ....
I do see where they copied the frame work of my stick-mid ... wise choice ..
Poor shlubs that just bought 300pc and 450pc, now they look like common folks with their brand new antiquated porkers ...
Worth pennies on the dollar now ... too bad, so sad ...

Ratzass ... Show us the receipt for your pair of brand new 500pc's ...
Same goes for cereal box boy Miguel ... time to scrap that old Vertigo, slant six ..

Chaz,
Your boat would most likely run better and be better balanced with a single 500. You could sell all your motors and extra parts to make a runner. I don't think the 450 market is going to fall off, the 400s still bring good money and people thought they would be of no desire.
Biggest problem for the new power is getting insurance with the speed they are making things capable of.

Very Very impressive piece of marine engineering for sure but at almost 90K if that is right Ima stick to my ole tried n true 2 stroke a while longer. I know the horror of mixing oil with gas and some smoke but I have learned to enjoy it. Can't wait to see what the new 500 will do.

I don't know where these price quotes come from. I paid under 40K for my first 450 and yes they have had a few increases since then but I just saw a post for a pair of 22' 450s with 47 hours for 88k. My guess is that a pair of 500s will be in the 120k area with cat tie-bar set up.

When and if that project ever comes into play it will have twin 300Rs. I have other boats in the fleet that far surpass the 24 in every way. I can tell you that my LCB works very well with a single, there are several eliminators, liberators, and other cats running great with big single motor applications. The best part is that you can go boating, its ready for you when ever you have the desire to hit the key.
Just got back from a 150 mile trip with toon and its 400Rs. Another great day on the water with friends and family.
You ask what he MSRP is on motors? I don't know, nor do I know anyone who has ever been charged MSRP. My last motor came from Theresa at Jacos and she was very fair. I have a set of 500s coming for my new boat and can't wait.

I think Greg needs to start the "Scream & Fly Elite's" forum so the aristocrats on here can discuss the new Mercury 500's. Seems a little out of place in the "general boating". RR
