Oil & Gas Stocks Up 3% Because...................

I'm paying FORTY cents more per gallon than I was on Friday last week (Seattle)!
After 10 weeks of modest price declines since July 4, the price at the pump exploded in just one weekend. Price hike adjustment was so crazy that my favorite station had problems with their pump computers. The purpose of this thread is to discuss the price dynamics nationwide (west coast, east coast, etc) and not to load up the blame game truck.

I believe it should be illegal to change prices at the pump between station fuel delivery's. Once you get a delivery the price is locked until the stations next delivery.

Speculators are usually the reason and/or the people that buy oil even though they aren't in the industry. Stock Market guys.
The solution is the bad orange man.

As do I, but that is not what they do. And they don't lower prices until the next load IF it is cheaper.

It's not much. Pennys on the gallon? They make their living from beer, soft drinks, chips and small items. They can't afford much of a mark up because of their distributor prices.

I think it is more than that. Think volume. Think about the truckers that use hundreds of gallons per day. And the farmers who even use more.

Apparently, they are making something. I see trucks going out to the farmers delivering diesel all the time. I know I used 2,000 gallons a week at times.

Our minimum gasoline markup is 9.18%... so more like 30¢/gallon, plus 33¢/gallon state tax and 18.4¢/gallon federal tax.

Evidently 3 refineries in CA are down and the 4th had some kind of significant event. Reserve stocks on the west coast are tight and there is some kind of cross stock sharing policy amungst the oil companies that dragged Oregon and Washington right along with CA in regards to sudden price hikes. Gov Newsom has granted a "bye" on pollution specs to get these refineries back online.

"There's no crying in baseball" - Tom Hanks.

However, in California the gas prices can make you cringe ... and what to cry on a politicians shoulder.
Surely, in California small vehicles will be selling faster, than the V8s on dealer lots.

Yes, but that is for California refineries... can't imagine the extra regulations, taxes, and fees they pay there.
