    Monty is BACK

Monty raced unlimited back in the 90's, Patrick Eve's the Florida factory OMC service rep worked NY before moving to Florida so we were good friends from my early MVP days, Pat and his friend who had a OMC dealership very close to Monty shop raced drag boats together, he would call me up and tell me where the next race was trying to get me back involved, after a near death blow over. in 85... it worked
Monty raced a Mirage with a V-8 then switched classes and boats to a Triad DR 20, OMC even had It on display at the Miami boat show...
Monty got busy building and maintaining others race boats and stopped his boat racing, Monty could not kill himself in unlimited so he played with fast motorcycles the last one a stretched Hayabusa, he once told me " I need to sell it because it will kill me", street racing is dangerous.
So last year Monty put another boat together to race Mod Pro and at the last race in Ga. he got it worked out...
I did not hear about his accomplishments at the last race so I was surprised to see Monty racing yesterday, Monty likes to play with people, so he say's something like yeah I know I'm in over my head he knows I'm best friends with his main competitor Jimmy Clouser so the stage was set, sure enough it came down to those two each giving one another a loss,
the last race Jimmy had him beat then Gordon motors by to clip him at the line

    MONTY'S BACK!

Probably, as long as me .. or longer .. Aye, I'm only the messenger, his crudness wants to know ..

He’s been too busy building other people’s motors.

I have two friends in line.

My report was he didn’t lose a pass.

I didn’t know he was Racing again but same friend said he went last year and didn’t have the tools that he needed to be competitive.
Said then that would change for the next year!

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

To clarify things I guess I should have stated " Monty's driving a drag boat again after 17+ years "

I thought I explained that but I understand the Trolls have special needs and agenda's

I was at the finish line with Ray Leach ex ODBA president (a very good one at that) and Monty's best friend

From what Ray said Monty is running a new electronic system he adapted from the automotive world because It's a lot cheaper than the

alternative too expensive Motech is what Ray used and was one of the winningest drivers of all time.

So the Merc guys have to step up and get rid of the stock Merc ECU and go high tech

I'm glad to see the old man back in the drivers seat

He was shaving his head before It was COOL, say's it helps aerodynamics

    To clarify things :

You only copy and paste .. so when you actually write something, it comes out like soupy, scrambled eggs.

Special needs : Write in American English.

    Case in point, it's not high-tech, it's Fuel-Tech.

Chaz I can't read your post because you always get cutesy going round and round, short attention span for such chit

I condensed a lot of information and it was kind of out of place, excuse me...

"Monty got busy building and maintaining others race boats and stopped his boat racing",

He's BACK in a **** kicking way, He's forcing everyone to improve

Long time ago I bought an Brucato ECU I wore the gold off my rings in a short period of time, Tommy said get rid of it if you don't know how to use it..

    Steam wheel = trouble

Thanks for telling everyone the type of unit Monty is using, Fuel- Tech I did not know... or others

Pretty Simple English .. last line pertaining to you was in French. Nothing hateful, just a simple truth.

He is involved in projects you'll never know about. Some that he subs out parts for me to make. I said the other day .. this is too ******* cool to not show off. Not to be shown until after the first race it goes to .. was the answer I got back.

As far as going racing ... and Fuel-Tech. A couple years ago, or back before the plandemic .. he spoke to the Fuel=Tech rep/owner at either the Snowbirds or US Street Nats in Bradenton. He became a dealer that day. Put a 450 or 550 on the Silver and Orange Action. Took it to many meet-up and ride events, the sandbar, Greg T. did a write up on the boat as well as took it to one race ... to show off his new engine mgmt system .. Thats what dealers do .. they show off their goods to the community. So it seems everyone knew about it but you ..
As far as hiding it .. only you would look to do that .. the rest of us would use the unit as it was designed. As a ECM/dash/data logger .. wise man say .. only fool jump in shallow end of pool head first .. thinkin they trap someone .. only to get lump on head ...

At least he actually composing his thoughts.... Other than a simple copy and paste and just posting links. Talk about low brain power. Doesn't take much intellect to do that. But it is what it is.

Glad to see Gordon’s kicking a$$ again. It’s also impressive to see the power those old OMC loopers are making nowadays, reliably, with EFI and good fuel control, which is all they lacked back in the day. Nothing sounds like one of those loopers with an open exhaust. I bought that green and purple Mirage off Gordon in ~‘98 when he switched to the STV. That old Mirage is still running today, albeit with a Drag motor/12” setup on it.

Gordon had previously built me a V6 looper that I then bolted on the mirage. It made serious power, but had an bog coming onto plane that killed my ET. Never figured out until years later that I was probably running too much fuel pressure. So I sold it and went to the dark side, lol. That looper motor ran for years and never failed, even when I put nitrous on it, and I’m reliably informed will be running again soon, with a MAD EFI setup. Man, I wish I had that back then. Best I could find back then was some old big bore plastic carbs and an Evolution Marine intake. EFI was the main reason I switched to Merc power.

My current boat is Gordon’s old STV, which I think was probably too damn light for that big old honking V8 he was running back then. Gordon eventually sold the STV to a friend of mine, who brought it down here, and then Gordon switched to the white Triad. I walked away from boat racing when I sold the Mirage in 2003, and didn’t get back into it until I bought the STV in 2017, so l lost track of what was going on.

I didn’t know that Gordon was running Fuel Tech either. Hope that doesn’t make me an idiot, lol.

All joking aside, FWIW, as an “outsider” who used to frequent this site back in its nascent state, who learned a ton from being on here, it’s sad to see the amount of vitriol that is provoked when certain people post on here. Maybe it’s not my place to say it, and I’m not trying to attribute blame to anyone, but I think that this undermines the camaraderie and esprit de corps that should otherwise exist amongst our dwindling numbers. It would be a shame to see this site go dark one day, because less people post on here simply because of the fear of being attacked. My 2 cents…

FYI most of these senile whinny old turd bags that get off attacking and belittling people. Especially everyone not in their tiny little circle of friends, don't even own a boat and/or haven't been in a boat for over 30 years. Now all they know is to bash and insult you for trying something they probably tried back in the 80s when they could still physically move on their own.
The next time you're trying to figure out something or asking for advice or help. As they jump in and start insulting and belittling your project which seems to be way too often and is why many people won't even ask a question or for help anymore just say something like. By the way what kind of boat do you have.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.
