How do you hide a Mega-Yacht
"Where do you put all of these mega yachts?” former CIA officer and Yacht Watch columnist Alex Finley said on Yahoo Finance Live.
“There just are not that many ports in the world that can handle that many large yachts, particularly at the same time, and the facilities to take care of them because these are incredibly technological machines which require enormous amounts of service and upkeep and that know-how, and those services and shipyards are all here in Europe and the United States.”

BARCELONA (Reuters) - A superyacht linked to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich left Barcelona on Tuesday where it had been undergoing repairs in a local shipyard, ship-tracking data showed.
The 140-meter (460-foot) Solaris, which sails under a Bermuda flag according to monitoring site Marine Traffic, left Spanish company MB92's Barcelona shipyard just after 5 p.m. (1600 GMT) on Tuesday, according to the same site. MB92 declined to comment.
The superyacht, which was built in a German shipyard and first took to the sea early last year, is one of a string of yachts owned by Abramovich, according to reports in luxury goods publications SuperYachtFan, SuperYacht Times and Forbes.
Abramovich, who last week put Chelsea Football Club up for sale and promised to donate money from the proceeds to help victims of the war in Ukraine, has not been the target so far of any sanctions over Moscow's invasion.
A spokeswoman for Abramovich said: "We never comment on the movements of the yacht or any other vehicles or vessels."
The boat had been at the Barcelona shipyard since late 2021, a sector source said. It was unclear where it was headed.
The European Commission has prepared a new package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus over the invasion of Ukraine that will hit additional Russian oligarchs and politicians and three Belarusian banks, three sources told Reuters on Tuesday.
French authorities last week took into temporary custody four cargo vessels and one luxury yacht linked to Russian oligarchs as the United States and other governments ramped up sanctions on Russia's super-rich with links to President Vladimir Putin.
At least five other superyachts owned by Russian billionaires were anchored or cruising in the Maldives last week, an island nation in the Indian nation with no extradition treaty with the United States.
There are currently three other yachts reportedly tied to Russian oligarchs at the Barcelona shipyard, according to Marine Traffic. One of them is related to Sergei Chemezov, chief of Russian state aerospace and defence conglomerate Rostec, who was sanctioned last week by the United States.
The other two are understood to belong to Russian oligarchs who have not been sanctioned - Andrey Molchanov, the main shareholder in Russian homebuilder LSR, and metals magnate Mikhail Prokhorov.

Agree and .......It is somewhat amazing that they can "turn off" AIS on a vessel that size.

Crazy. I don't know why we don't just offer to let them dock their yachts here in the US; under a heavy surveillance agreement of course. They can bring their oligarch money to the US also.

Andrey Igorevich Melnichenko's 470-foot Sailing Yacht A—believed to be the world's biggest—has been sequestered at the northern port of Trieste, the Italian prime minister's office said.
Industrialist Melnichenko, who owns the fertilizer producer EuroChem Group and coal company SUEK, is among several prominent Russian oligarchs sanctioned by the EU since the start of the Ukraine War. He is worth around $11 billion according to Forbes.
Italian police said they had over the last week seized villas and yachts worth 143 million euros ($156 million) from five Russians on the sanctions list.

Vladimir Putin is arguably the richest communist in the world.
~~~~~
A $700m superyacht being repaired in an Italian dry dock may belong to Vladimir Putin, according to US intelligence officials.
The ownership of the 459ft Scheherazade has come under close scrutiny since Russia ’s unprovoked assault on Ukraine, and the vessel could be associated with Mr Putin, intelligence officials told The New York Times.
She is now docked in Italy.
The Russians aren't communists anymore even in name. There are still communist parties in their 'elections' but the United Russia party (Putin's) is not communist.
- Roman Abramovich's yacht was off the coast of Turkey on Monday, ship-tracking data shows.
- His $600 million yacht, Solaris, is "scenic cruising" without a port destination, per MarineTraffic.
- It might be trying to confuse people about its final destination, a MarineTraffic spokesperson said.
A luxury superyacht owned by the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich that has been sailing without a destination for more than a week updated its status for the first time since leaving port, suggesting it has no immediate intention of docking, ship-tracking data shows.
Solaris, a 140-feet vessel worth $600 million, was off the southwestern coast of Turkey and heading west, according to the tracking website MarineTraffic. On Monday, the website showed that the vessel's status changed to "scenic cruising" from "awaiting orders," the status it had shown since leaving Tivat, Montenegro, on March 13.
