    Did the race teams who were using the 12 inch mid sections still able to get gearcases with 12 inch shafts? Or did they all switch to 6 inch? 2nd photo with carbs.....I can't believe they were using those tee block and u bolt combos for steering?

    I ran all Keller steering hardware on my boats. For steering cables I used thick uncoated stainless because it tracked on and off the steering drum without fouling every time. I used the thickest cable that would go through the pulleys.

    Yes of course but most drivers/teams used the new much better/faster racing V8 with the 6 inch mid section and fuel injection.

    Thats Bristol, the row of houses behind were mostly occupied back in the day by either ships captains or owners.The extreme right hand side one was certainly an owners residence note the style of bow window to enable him to look out on his vessel moving into the basin. The pub in shot is “The Ostrich” I spent a happy hour in there with Cees on what must have been his first or second visit...Happy 2022 everyone..

    Cees was there in 1973, when I was there in Bristol. I recall him telling me after (I believe it was Sunday's race) that the wind blew him sideways into one of the buoys.

    ~~~
    Here is a photo of questionable quality. The Bristol pits 1973 with Renato Molinari atop the boat, talking to Carlos Rasini.
    Behind me with the white hat on, might be Cees vander Velden.
    Lorentz Näslund was a great friend and boat racer.
    We raced three Paris 6 Hours together in my Clerici boats. 1974 was the best year for us. We finished third in the large, very popular UIM OE class.
    Lorentz was big into boat racing and did run a Evinrude dealership in a small village named Storfors, Sweden. His dealership was also a hardware store and you could order alcohol in his very unique store.
    Sadly Lorentz left us in the early eighties..way to early.
    Here is a mix of pictures.
    Starting in Rotterdam, Holland 1975 when Lorentz raced his #70 Clerici/Evinrude
    Lorentz Näslund was a great friend and boat racer.
    Me and Lorentz after Paris 6 Hours 1974. (above)
    Lorentz to the right in the yellow t-shirt. I think this is from 1975.
    Lorentz in a local news paper I think 1975.
    #34 is Lorentz in my 1973 Clerici, #99 is me in my 1974 Clerici. This is from the race in Torsby, Sweden 1974.
    (Not sure who the other boat is)
    Local news paper again..Lorentz to the left of me and Bo Nilsson to the right. Storfors 1974.
    Lorentz in his Offshore E class #34 Joker Ess..First one is from 1973 and the last one 1974.
    R.I.P. my friend.
