    More famous Mercury people

Maybe I started something posting JFL's photo! Not to be left out, me and behind me is Dave Q, Mercury Tech rep from Minnesota. Over 80 years at Mercury between he and I. And 10+ years after retirement, we are both still workin' on 'em.Click image for larger version.

Make sure to have a stable place to stand when lifting one of these off a floating boat! I think they are made with standard resin infused glass? If Merc wants to get some weight out of their V8s quickly, an autoclave carbon fiber cowl would be the way to get there. Forget the cost. Well worth it vs boosting a 45+lb cowl. Damn near a two-person job!
The hardware might be “aircraft quality”, but a 45-pound cowling is a disregard of aerospace’s motivation towards weight reduction. That V8 engine package is a brute in weight, and comparable to its retail price.

I guess the simplicity of the 2 Stroke, was a more price friendly engine. Bye, bye 2 cycles, you are heading toward memories past, like 3 gallons of gasoline for a Dollar.

    "Spent Grease"

I do not recall ever coming across this exhaust terminology.

Back in the old days, I reckon I might of saw some Spent Grease on some of those fouled spark plugs.

    Enlighten me please.

Is this puller props on the lower unit, and not the conventional pusher props of a standard lower unit?
